WooHOO! VGC for D23 Expo 2011

I am so happy I booked myself a studio at VGC for the D23 expo!
I was so worry I can't get one because there are only 23 studios and there are like 10000000 DVC members, if only 1% of us want to stay at VGC for the D23 Expo next year, it is next to impossible to get one. I missed the first Expo and this time I am not going to miss it!!!

Anyone else is going??

How many days of ticket did you get Disneymom?? i can't decide how long I should spend on the expo and how many days in the parks. I booked 5 nights VGC I think that should be enough time.

I hope to get a studio AFTER the Expo so am sweating on when I can call...for the Expo I'll stay closer to the Convention center. It will be a great time!

Not 'Disneymom' -- but adding: We bought tickets for the full 3 days, Aug 19-21. We attended all days last year and wouldn't have given up any of them as each day has different events: special speakers in various breakout rooms, late night movies and previews, large events in the auditorium, etc. We arrived early each morning (using the D23 early hour) and stayed through closing (late, late, late!) each day.

I went to the Expo last year also and went all 4 days and still didn't see everything. The way they organize it makes it impossible, they will have a speaker and a movie running at the same time so you can't do both. Plus you have to line up early for some of the events. It was a great time last year..
Hope Jonny Depp shows up again next year..

I stayed at the VGC this past May for my honeymoon. It's a great hotel. Afterwards, I discovered how few DVC rooms there were and was surprised I got one at the 7-month mark.

I tried to book a studio for the Expo on Saturday morning for the 18, 19th and 20th, but even though it was exactly eleven months out and I called by 10:30 all the studios were gone. I am very disappointed. One of my main reasons for adding on at the Grand Cal as to get the 11 month window for the Expo. I did manage to book the 20th and am waitlisted for the other two nights.

I bought tickets for the 2011 Expo, but I didn't book a room even though I am an owner at GCV. We are local, and after spending $500 on a weekend ticket, I didn't want to spend my points too. LOL. The Grand is awesome, you will love it!

This is exactly what I was worry about as there are so few DVC villas @ Grand Cal, but since I am staying for 5 night Aug 16th-20th, I started calling MS on Sept 12th, and for the following 4 days I called every morning @ 9am to push my check-in day 1 day forward. (I think people call it walking the reservation) That gave me 3 days head start, and got the most important date: Aug 18th, 19th and 20th on Sept 15th.

I hope your wait list will come thru Mr Potts.

Thanks, TLPL. Hopefully, something will open up in the next 11 months! Good thinking on your part to "walk" the reservation. At least I have one night. I called right at nine this morning for the 8/20/11 reservation and was told I got the last room. Things really are tight there.

I called on Sept. 16th at 9 am eastern and got Aug. 16-22, 2011 in a studio for the Expo. DH and I are gonna take that Tues and Wed to spend time in the parks.

Same here LovingmyDisneylife, we are checking in Aug 16, so we can just get up and go to the parks Aug 17 and 18, then to the expo 19, 20, 21. I wonder what is the best way to get to the convension center. Do they have shuttle bus?
