Woohoo - Loan Paid Off!!

I finally have paid off the loan on my original VWL contract. When I bought this contract I took the 10 year financing but had plans to pay it off early (probably like most people do). Well 9 years 6 months later, I have made my last payment. It took a lot longer than I planned, but sometimes the things of life get in the way of you doing what you plan to do. But anyway, we now own our VWL contract. Very happy with that.

Congratulations! It's always nice to have that behind you, no matter how long it takes. Just watch out for that nasty illness that is epidemic on these boards! A monthly payment on a DVC loan is like a vaccine against addonitis, but once it "wears off", the bug can attack when you least expect it!

What are your plans for the money now? As a CPA I must give you the advice that you should take the money you were paying on your loan and put it into a Roth IRA, or increase your 401k contribution. It's not as fun as DVC but it's probably a good move.

I wonder if this will make your DVC trips "more fun" now that you don't owe anything.

I just reworked all of my finances and am targeting a payoff in the next 24-36 months. Like you said. sometimes things get in the way.
Congrats. Now you can enjoy the DVC a little bit more knowing it's paid off!
