I just found this site a few days ago and now I'm hooked. Thanks so much for all the great insider info. I'm so glad I found all you Disney maniacs. My Mom, nephew and I will be staying at the WL in November. I can't wait. I think I'm more excited about it than my nephew.
Anyway, we are still in the planning stage so my question to all you WL vets is... which do you prefer courtyard or woods view and why?

We opted for a Woods view, and requested a quiet room as our family are all light sleepers. We didn't want to be kept awake or woken early by swimmers in the pool (Courtyard View).

We had a wonderful view from the balcony:

From memory I think it was room 2002! Perfect - we had nobody walking past our room in the corridor eitheras it was right at the end. We'd certainly request this one again. I woke early on our first morning and sat on the balcony watching the sun rise and the lake come to life - absolutely magic.

I've stayed with both views, and I believe both rooms were on the fifth floor, . The woods view room faced the quiet pool area (the walkway over to the villas, actually). It was very peaceful, and felt quite private since there were a few trees in front of the balcony.
Our courtyard view room was facing the main pool. It felt less private, but it was nice to be able to wave to DH and the kids down at the pool while I enjoyed some alone time on the balcony. There was absolutely no noise from the pool area with the sliding door closed.
Both were great! I would stay with either view again, without hesitating. :D

It's really a personal perferance. Ctyd is noiser & has less privacy. Go to the WL faq thread pt 3 & look for Majastic. At the bottom of his sigy he has a link to many actual balacony shots.

Right now we are in the inner courtyard, over the falls, and we can't see or hear the pool from here. (7th floor) It's very quiet with the balcony door open... there is also no noise coming from the halls. In fact I haven't heard a sound coming from anywhere.

Hi! This is a tough question.

We've stayed at all three views-standard, woods and courtyard.

Woods view is
-quiet
-all of our woods views have been on the "north" side of the WL. Cool view of the monorail and sometimes we have been able to see the fireworks at the MK in the far distance. Also can see the castle light up at night but again far away and depending on floor you're on partially obstructed by trees.
-View of the otter pond from the woods view on the "north side."

Courtyard:
-little bit more noisy and less privacy. I'm sensitive to noise etc but with the door shut and the curtains pulled we did not here anything.
-view of EWP from the balconey.
-ability to see the boats come and go from the boat dock (depending on the view). Comes in handy-if you time it right you can go down when you see the boat coming down at a distance and don't have to wait on the dock.
-the view of the Waterfull, pool or geyser (depends on where your room is).
-If you leave your sliding glass door open slightly you can hear the waterfall and the music from the lodge.

Overall I think I'd pick the Courtyard view. Of course, I'd be happy in any room at the WL.

Please post on what you decide and enjoy this beautiful and magestic resort.l:Pinkbounc

There are three basic views. Standard which, for the most part, are on the outside of the north wing and lobby. They overlook the Lodge service area. While some post it is noisy, others have posted it was no problem.
Woodsview is also on the North side of wing B. Very quiet and 5th and 6th floor has a view of the MK castles and fireworks. Rooms 5034 to 5014 are the best bet for that.
Courtyard comes in “two flavors” Inner and outer. Inner is the falls and pool views while the outer faces the villas.
Then there are the lobby rooms that can come in any of the views. Your door opens to the hall overlooking the lobby and is a pretty awesome sight.
Take Kimberle’s advice and go to the WL thread. On the first two pages is a lot of information and home to the WL VETS.
