I am paying my truck off on Monday!!!

I just had to tell ya'll. I know you will understand. I have waited 5 very long years for this moment, and the truck, knock on wood, is running like a dream.

This is a HUGE turning point for us in our quest for financial freedom. I'm so excited! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

OH yeah, and I apparently hit 6000 posts at some point yesterday!

congrats on the truck and 6000+ posts :cool1: its a great feeling to have something paid off isn't it! hey more $$ for scrap stuff :lmao:
we paid mine off last year, goal was to be car pmt free for at least 2 years and then I would get a new car, but now we will be buying DH a truck since we lost his co truck when we went out on our own, oh well, maybe the following year.

I hope to not need to buy a new car for at least 2 years. DH has his 66 Mini that we still need to pay off but that loan is really small.
It feels great to have it paid off. I kept seeing the number get smaller and smaller and when we hit under 10,000 I was chomping at the bit to be done with it. I think that last push took forever!

Now I need to decide what to roll those payments into. I think we will hammer out the high interest Credit Card next. After I buy the kids winter clothes! LOL

Woo Hoo!

We just went under $3K on our car loan. Hopefully, this time we can keep the car for awhile. Last time we paid off a car, DH got in an accident 6 months later and it was totaled. I was NOT a happy camper.

That stinks Hope, but as you know, we did that backwards. We got into an accident before paying off. LOL

You'll have your car paid off in no time!

Congrats!!! Only 12,400 and something more dollars for me. AT least now it will start coming down faster as it is finally going to principal I think. I did pay off credit card so no balances on any of those.

Drive that thing until the wheels fall off! One thing I was always taught or told to do was to keep "paying" that payment into savings...and soon you'll have enough to buy a car and pay cash for it when you need a new one. Beats paying interest!

I know you have other things to pay for (Don't we all!) so it may not be possible, but hey, you never know. :)

Congrats!!! That has to be such a fantastic feeling!

I hate debt. We have too much. Kinda hard to avoid when DH decided he wanted to go to law school. :sad2:

GBShorts, that is exactly what I am doing. Our van was paid off in July, but I am stilling having the amount withdrawn from my pay and into the credit union savings account. I figure I'll have a nice deposit when the time comes to get another car.

Buffy, congrats on paying of the SUV. Isn't it a great feeling?:goodvibes

:cool1:  :dance3: :yay:

how great is that!!!!!!! it's such a good feeling huh? i asked myself what would i do with ds preschool tuition once i was done and you know what.......
i don't even have that money! where did it go???? there is always something i guess. but gbshorts is right, keep paying it into the savings. that's the right thing to do. i did not do it with his school money, but should have. now it's just part of the budget.

Congrats!! I'm in the same boat as others - we paid off our car loan earlier this year and I'm continuing to make that payment into a savings account. It's a nice feeling to see the money accumulate.

That certain deserves a woo-hoo :thumbsup2 We'll pay one car off in about 9 mo. and hoping it remains in great shape so we don't have a car payment for awhile.

It's not as good as the truck loan being paid off..but DD's braces get paid off next month! Woo hoo!!! Just in time to save up for the next set! OOOH! and DH's hospital bills will be paid off by Christmas! Than the his truck will be paid off next May.. Yipee! I told him to be nice because HE was NOT getting a new one for a while!

YAY Nancy! I dread the b word (braces x4) oy!

I would love to roll the money into savings but I would rather pay off the debt we have. After 9/11 DH lost his job (as a direct result of 9/11) and was unemployed for 4 months and then under employed (severe pay cut) for another year. We also purchased our current house on the day he lost his job, so we ended up living off the proceeds of the old house and the credit cards til he was back to work full time.

We fully admit our responsibility in getting ourselves into this mess but it kept us from losing our home all together. It has been a long hard road but we are finally turning the corner financially. And no I don't work because at the time we had 2 babies, age 1 and an infant, as well as DS11 who was 5, what I could earn would have gone straight to daycare so that wouldn't work.

We want to move and DH wants to change careers so he can be home (currently on the road 45-50 weeks a year). So we need to pay off all the debt now so we can be better situated by this time next year.

Oh I'm gonna start a poll, I have a question.

Congrats! It is always such a motivation to see those numbers drop then disappear! We got into debt early on but then I got into the Debt Proof Living with Mary Hunt-We paid off our debt and it was just such a relief. Her advice really helps and I would recommend it to anyone. Good luck to you all that you reach your financial goals!

Congratulations- It is always wonderful to see debt go down. I was very lucky to have parents that instilled debt-free living principals as a child and that we have been able to avoid any problems that would have put us into debt.

Good luck on moving to debt free or at least more debt free in the coming year.

Rebecca

Congrats! I only have 5 payments to go on my car ... and then we can start putting money away for DH's new car in 3 years.
