After asking whether we would be happier at a moderate in another thread (and getting good advice, thanks!), I asked our travel agent to check into it. I also decided to get APs, since we can go a week earlier next year and not have to buy tickets. It's a sneaky way to ensure I probably get to go again ("But honey, we will save $600! ;-).

Last I looked, only CBR and CSR had rooms free for our dates. My agent just told me rooms came available at Port Orleans Riverside! I've heard so many good things about it and I'm really excited that she found rooms there. I've wanted to stay there since way back when it was called Dixie Landings.

So now I will go read through the FAQ thread for more info. It just goes to prove that things do open up if you keep trying. I just got lucky, I think, but I'm sure perseverance in calling might have had the same result.

Well congratulations to you! I hope you enjoy the resort and your savings (and what a great way to ensure another trip :hyper: )

aaahhh, yes! The "but AP's will save us $$$ honey" line. Gotta love it. And it does work ::yes::

Enjoy Port Orleans Riverside, it's a beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

It's always worked with my lovely wife.

Congrats on the savings.

You'll love POR!! DH and I stayed there 5 different trips before joining DVC. It's by far our favorite moderate. We've been back for visits to the bakery several times even if we were staying elsewhere.

Hi Laralyn,

What dates are you going???? I am going 10/22-10/24 and was only able to get the BAS rate at this point.

Have a great trip!

Denise

Congrats on your score

We stayed there when it was Dixie Landings and that is still my favorite resort, you'll have a blast.

Congratulations!! We are planning a May trip to POR and can't wait. I, too, used the AP line about saving SOOOOO much money. Just be careful - we are planning our 3rd trip on the same AP, and before the AP we never went more than every couple of years.....Have a great time!! :smooth:

I haven't stayed there since it was Dixie Landings but it's my favorite onsite so far... you will love it! :)

Congratulations on POR and the APs!!! We stayed at POR in 2001. Everyone from the kids on up to Nana & Papa loved it!!

That year we also got APs and DH and I went back for the Food & Wine Festival!!

We'll be going back to POR in the spring with the family and then hubby and I will again go back for the Food & Wine Festival!!

We have saved soooo much $ by using our APs and taking these extra trips!!! ::yes:: ;)

G&J's Mom: We're going Nov. 12-19, and it's the AP rate. The POR showed up under the BAT rate as well, when I checked yesterday at the Disney site. It was $79 per night with AP, and $85 per night with BAT. Good luck! :-)

Also, thanks for all the great feedback on the resort. I'm really excited about the trip, since it's been five years since my last trip to Disney. It's great to hear that the resort is so nice!
