Woo-Hoo - ADRs back at 180 days!!

I am beyond thrilled by this news. I am PSYCHED!!!!! After reading about all the horror stories regarding ADRs at 90 days out, I was not looking forward to the ADR process for my next trip in April.

We are planners and I know when and where I am staying and where I want to eat at least 11-7 months out. I will be making my ADRs on Oct. 27th:woohoo:

If Disney reads this.....

THANK YOU...THANK YOU....THANK YOU!!!!:)

Couldnt be any happier about going back to 180, we are planners. I had to call member services and they told me that they were getting complaints from the beginning of the switch to 90 days.

I just made our dining ressies at the 90 day mark (but agree with Diane that 30 would be MUCH better) and I had zero problems. I actually was at 88 days and got Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's, CP etc. so it wasn't for the less popular places. And everything was within 10-15 minutes of what I wanted if it wasn't exact.

Granted it's not during the big free dining but I've so rarely had a problem making reservations even 6 to 8 weeks out. I also think the 180 lends itself to more speculative renting b/c many people aren't positive what they want but feel they need to book and then tie up spots they won't use. I'd be curious to learn if 90 days led to less no-shows.

I didn't have any trouble at 90 days out. In fact, I got Le Cellier (just so we could see what the fuss is about), CRT, and several others at the exact times I wanted.

That said, I prefer 180 days out and am glad they're going back. We do book close to that far out, if we know we're traveling that far in advance. It isn't very speculative for us - we generally know we want Cali Grill, Jiko, Bistro or V & A, and a few other favorites, and we like to try at least one new place most trips. We don't ever book and not show up; we do occasionally try to switch nights around or flat out cancel an ADR.

We don't think of it as "what will we be in the mood for on Tuesday in three/six months", because of course we don't know what we'll be in the mood for on a given night far in advance. 90 days just isn't any more helpful than 180 days for letting me guess my dining preferences for a particular evening. We think of it as "what restaurants do we want to make sure we dine at", and for that, the longer lead time works better just because there aren't as many people booking that far in advance.

This is GREAT news!! We're a family that knows exactly where and when we want to eat around Disney. I made our June 2010 res's just last mointh and now I can make our ADR's this coming December.

Last month I wrote a letter to DVC membership complaining about the 90 day ADR fiasco. I guess there were enough complaints from all over, that Disney took them seriously, and realized their mistake.

When they switched to 90 days, they said it was only temporary until they got the online system up and running. So I don't think it was due to complaints.

: Effective October 27th, the booking window for advance dining reservations (ADR) will be extended to 180 days.

Although, I too am glad it is going back to 180 days the date this starts is going to be tough for us. We get back from our October trip on the 26th. Instead of being able to try and sleep in a little bit we will have to be up before 6 a.m. in order to book our ADR's for our February trip. Everyone out there who owns a very small violin can start playing it for me now.;)

This is such a shame.

I for one don't know where I want to be dining six months from now.

Glad I have my DVC kitchen!

I am sooo glad they went back to 180 days. Booking at 90 days was a nightmare for us!

Me too, especially when Disney throws in a last minute free dining promotion (like the upcoming one). If I had been able to make my ADRs 180 days in advance I would have had my ADRs made before the announcement (I think). :)

Oh well, I did manage to get most of my preferred ressies and decided to not worry about the rest. Yea for 180 days!

Right there with you.

This is a nice boon for DVC members, IMHO. I suspect that many of us plan our vacations a LONG way out...usually further than the promotions are released. This is a nice perk so that we don't get caught in the promotion-fueled "ADR rush" of things like free dining.

I was always a fan of 180. 90 seemed to short to this family of OCD planners. That said, we got everything we wanted at 90 days (and yes, we're there during free dining)...but we found it a lot more stressful going through the process (in part because of the fact online ADR's went live about 3 days before we were due to make 'em, AND the DVC ressies weren't working).

I'm quite glad they've returned to the old time frame.

In a word...WOO-HOO!!!!!!!! (or is that considered 2 words?) :cool1::cool1:
This completely fills my planning addiction! :dance3:

This is exactly why I am so thrilled by the change BACK to 180 days. As a DVC member I will pay for DDP and not get any ADRs because of all the FREE dining. I have no problem paying for my meals. I just want to be able to eat what I want if I am paying (especially if the new prices are implemented). KWIM?

If the ADRs can be made at 180+10 days they should IMO announce the park hours 190 days in advance. That would allow people to plan ADR's around park hours. Having both come out at the 180 day mark is going to cause people to jump on line make reservations, and as they study the park hours and discuss it with other family members they will start making change after change after change to the ADR's.

I would think having the park hours come out 10 days prior to being aboe to make ADR's, would allow the family to st down, figure out what parks they will be in, o which day, and make ADR's, that won't need to be changed, as the family looks over the park hour sheet.

2 cents.....

Makes sense. We actually try to schedule our ADRs at parks which are not having the extra hour(s) day, to avoid some of the crowds. :goodvibes
