WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

Hello. WE are following on the other place, but wanted to come back to the Disboards too where we made some great friends from our very first cruise. We are a family of 3: DW- Rose, DH- Mike , and DD 12. This will be our 7th Disney Cruise, but our longest to date. We love 7 days and can't wait to have 14 days. The smaller boats are our favorites and excited to see the updates to the Wonder.
Mike is active duty military and currently deployed. This will be a welcome trip, and celebration for last deployment ever.

Always good to have someone to chat with regardless of the site. Congrats on celebrating the last deployment, being a military family is tough.

I may be wrong but I think @QuiltTeddy (maybe the wrong person) may have arranged some quilting get together. I am not sure a Palo group has been organized so I will tag @wilma-bride and get her input.

Sorry, always forget to come to Dis for some reason. I didn't organize the Fat Quarter Exchange, but helped create the sign up sheet. The information, though, is as follows:

"This is a fat quarter exchange for anyone who is interested in the swap. Please bring a fat quarter for each person in attendance. As we get closer to sailing, you will be updated with how many to bring. Theme: Ocean/Beach. Best if done with the same type of fabric, such as BATIK so you can make a memory keepsake. We will get together at the open restaurant on the first SEA day. We will hopefully have lunch together, but it is not necessary to stay for lunch. I will need your room number and FQ's to return your swap to you. Having done this many times on other ships, it's a great way to forge long lasting friendships that have a common bond -- quilting and cruising! "

I'm not sure if the person handling is a member of Disboard. At this point, we have 11 people signed up.

Welcome! Our DS 13 will be with us on this cruise (as well as his 6 yr old sister), and this will be our seventh and longest cruise as well. We have done 3 seven days, 1 ten day, and just finished a twelve day. Our longer cruises have been very port intensive so we are looking forward to all of the SEA DAYS!!! Congratulations and what a way to celebrate the last deployment. Thank your husband for his service.

I loved cheap flight day yesterday! Thankfully I remembered last night about it being cheap flight day so I thought I would check if anyone actually had sales. Scored AA tickets to Orlando for $109 which beats SW price of $165 even after adding luggage. Bonus is AA flies out of the airport I am flying back into from San Diego. I checked this morning and the price for AA went back up to match SW at $165 so I'm happy I got my deal

Chicago. I've been watching the fares since they were released and now I'm glad that's over. On to making a decision about which hotel to stay at in Orlando. So many favorites and I can only choose one!

Well, it was a price that was what I was willing to pay to fly out of Chicago. I like SW but there price was to high(and I have no patience waiting for a sale) and I am not a fan of the airport they use in Chicago. I shouldn't complain though cause in the end I am going on a Disney cruise!

Just booked this cruise yesterday and spent a good portion reading the thread! It is myself and DH - we will both be 30 at sail time. Over the moon about going through the Panama Canal on Disney. This will be my 12th cruise and 2nd on Disney. We live about 30 min from Port Canaveral so my dear mom is dropping us off...on board with the rest of you looking into flights back from San Diego. We were waitlisted for Early Dining. Anyone know how likely it is we will get moved? So happy to see such an active thread!

You probably will get early dining and if not before the cruise, you could always check on board. Considering the rooms available changes so much and PIF is Christmas Eve, i am thinking that people will drop from the cruise.

On another note - booked my rental car in Orlando and a room at my favorite hotel. Travel arrangements are now done and just have to finish paying off the cruise!

Just booked this cruise today. Very excited!! It will be my wife and I. Cruised many times but only twice with Disney. Both times on the Magic many years ago when our kids were young. Let the count down begin.

Just checking in here again, to see what I've missed, booking flights today, so we can book our rental car soon, FE is mostly designed, just need a few more supplies and I can pound those out (although I may wait for PIF date, just to make sure my group doesn't change much) the pieces are falling into place..... Now to get wedding stuff up to pace, wish me luck

I am waiting until after Christmas for the FE since people have been known to drop. That still leaves me with a couple months to get everything done, although I am generally a procrastinator. Good luck with the wedding stuff!

We have never been to PALO for dinner. What is on their dinner menu???? DH didn't care for what was being offered on the September 2016 brunch menu. Please advise.
