Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

We HAVE cruised during hurricanes- KATRINA- when that was hitting NOLA, we were happily sailing out of Galveston, blissfully unaware of the devastation. I'm only concerned because with the canal, there is no going around any storm unless we head south to Cape Horn or stay on the west coast! Now, don't get me wrong, I do want to get to the Galapagos and Antarctica - just not on a PC cruise! I'm not going to worry since Disney doesn't have any Nov. cruises- if it's South America we head to, it's South America we head to!

Worst case scenario, we sail about while the Hurricane passes. Then make the crossing. But like I said before, the odds are remote.

Ohh, love the EQ/Apple Witch theme!! When I was a corpsman in the Navy, all we could wear was the green. :P Of course back then, there were no great colors and designs, etc. Guess I am dating myself!!! :goodvibes

Dating yourself? Narcissist!! And what does your wife have to say about this? :sad2:

I was an HM1, Coast Guard though, but went to several navy B schools. Didn't wear scrubs much as I was on independent duty most of the time. DW is a vet and lives in scrubs, could be why she spends so much on clothes prior to each cruise. I can't really dipute it when she says she has nothing to wear..

Yeah my work is odd. Every job/department has a different color. X-ray/imaging has black/gray, RT brown, RNs wear navy, and aides wear teal/Caribbean blue. So days I'm allowed to wear other stuff: I go all out. Even my socks are an act of "I'm not just teal" I wear bright colored socks (today is either My Little Pony or Mickey Mouse with mustaches.).

Jimmy your wife sounds like me!

I don't have a wife.....I'm the wife. I don't think my DH would care.

welcome to all the new folks - sorry for the delay in adding to the facebook page - everyone is added now. We were away over the Labor Day weekend and are very busy with wedding plans. Please have patience until after Nov 1, then I will be more on the game! I will update the who is who list at that time (will take a bit of thread reading I am sure!) Please just post your name at the bottom and I will make the additions. Thanks!!

You in no way need to apologize for anything. This is a very important time for you both and you should be focusing on each other, not the strangers you will meet in a year. Congrats and enjoy every moment!

Good thoughts regarding the wedding!!!! We are dealing with that here too. Just remember: it's just a big party. And remember the bridesmaids feet...

My sister wants us in "various shades of taupe and sage green" but none of us can have the same color... She has 8 bridesmaids. I'm trying to convince her Tom's shoes....It's one day, just one day.

oh, ours have it easy!! First we have three women and on man. Since we brides are both in white - we put them in black over black. A french tailored black shirt and floor length black skirts for the firsts (both female) and the seconds will be in pants (female in palazzo and the guy in tux pants). We found Michael Kors ties in our purples over a year ago and everyone will be wearing them - the women in a loose knot placed below the first button, and the guy as a standard tie. They are to wear what ever shoes they want - as long as they are black! Oh and we have headbands instead of held flowers - everyone gets one (the guy isn't wearing his...we are making it for his daughter, who will not be there)

I LOVE weddings! Just sayin''.... I wish DH would let me have another ; ) , with him of course, and wish I could look as I did 32+ years ago...
MAYBE we should write up questions and do our own group newly/not-so-newly wed game? Then we can just all celebrate ( winners and losers) with champagne all around!

Black on black is fun. We are mismatched dresses, in different shades/none can be the same. I'm right now looking at either a light sage (so almost like a sea foam)1950s style dress with cap sleeves, cinched waist, tea length with a sweet heart neckline, or a champagne colored full length Greek style dress with little sleeves. I want my tattoos covered. I just don't like the details. I think if I were to ever get married it'd be at the court house and then have a giant potluck at my house.

MMBL- my folks get their vows renewed at least once a year or whenever they are in a new place/vacation. They've done the tacky Vegas wedding, the drive thru chapel, renewed in Paris, on a German river cruise, when we first moved up here, in Hawaii on their 30th (on the beach with tacos), and on their 35th (only 35 years later after their first wedding) the renewed at a Catholic church (the same type of place they had their first wedding). So tell your hubs..

Sounds awesome!!! Should look smashing!!!
WE got married in a courthouse and on our 11th anniversary we had a church blessing. It took....we will be over 35 years on this cruise!

It'll be 48 years for us the November after the cruise. That's funny about it "taking"..... reminds me of a conversation we had with a couple we met in a Dunkin' Donuts one morning. They had been married for 65 years..... said their friends told them when they got married that it would never last. The husband said, "Who knows? Maybe it won't!" :rotfl2:

I don't want 'just' a vow renewal- I want a 250 person gala, black tie event! Maybe a Disney Dream Wedding! It would look silly at my age- I think I really just want to be young again, very slim again and have a day as a 'princess'- with a fabulous party to boot!

When you figure out how to make that happen, will you please share your secret? :rotfl2: AND you are NEVER too old - my parents did their 40 year vow renewal on the WDW Grand Yacht complete with food and drinks catered by Disney! Was a wonderful "cruise" around WDW lagoon(s).

I, too, have been a bit MIA - and that won't change for me until after the beginning of the new year........

However, I think I have the first post all updated with all of those who have signed up for the FE List and the Palo Group Brunch.

If you see something missing - PLEASE send me a PM or an e-mail to DisneyMouseHouse@disboards.net - I don't always have time to read all of these posts - hehehehe

Thanks!

My grandparents did something similar for their 50th. They had 300+ people (40 of those people being their family. We are a big clan) at this swanky Palm Springs resort to renew their vows and have a fancy dinner. I was 10. Fab parties are fun! And Disney has taught us we can be silly!

Cruising news: The "three of you leaving for a 3 week vacation on one shift...." thing came up again. I'm kinda' hoping that we don't need to go talk to my boss and that "oh crap I'm poor" finances comes into play for one of our group (I'm trying to figure out how she's doing this with PTO and her cash because she's going to Vegas next month, in November taking a week to Spokane/home, has another week in Spokane in April. She was all excited because she said "I have $400 saved for this trip and Vegas...." Dude...). I am concerned.

My my parents and aunts and uncles threw a great 50th for my grandparents. I was 18 at the time. We had an amazing time!

Hope this isn't something you are going to have to deal with repeatedly for slightly less than a year. :(
