Friday was the AK “Wild by Design” tour day.
Not really a backstage tour, but a good way to see lot of details never noticed before. It’s a guided tour of AK, where a guide illustrates how Imaginers built the park and tells curiosities about animals. Do you know how electrical insulators are made in Asia? Coca Cola bottles :) And do you know why BLACK gibbons are … white ? still too young (become black later) :)
The tour includes a refreshing continental breakfast (with lot of fruits) and a special pin (DH collect them). Speaking of pins, DH followed Majestic's suggestion of trading “mystery” (= reversed, not visible) pins with CM and got some unusual pins (some CM only pins and some Tokyo pins) and of course he purchased all kind of Grumpy pins available :)

Saturday was our wedding anniversary and we got a wonderful dinner at Artist Point. We were at the best table (a corner table overlooking the falls) and got a personalized menu (with our names and anniversary date on it). After we tasted their signature dish (Cedar plank roasted salmon) they surprised us with a (free) Artist point berry cobbler with an anniversary candle on top! :cake: What a nice surprise!

ANNIVERSARY ARTIST POINT BERRY COBBLER
(WITH PERSONALIZED MENU ON THE LEFT)

The following evenings were dedicated to resort hopping and buffet dining. We visited the Polynesian resort, while dressing my new muu-muu and got an Hawaiian dinner at Ohana; the days after we went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge (tasting the African buffet at Boma) and to the Yacht and Beach (seafood buffet at Cape May Café’). All excellent buffets … dinner time was about one and half hour each … with all the time spent eating :)
Tuesday evening was another DIS-day. We met Judie (AspiringCindy) and her sweet family; we all had a very nice Illumination Cruise. We all had lot of fun and one of their DD at the end of the cruise was able to spell the Italian word CIAO in a perfect way :wave2:
Once more we experienced how nice and friendly DIS people are with somebody never met before :)

ILLUMINATION CRUISE WITH ASPIRINGCINDY FAMILY

Wednesday, the 11th, was our last day at the parks. Our Annual Pass was expiring this day, but it was really worth for money :)
With a careful planning we used it for … two years :)
We spent 2003 WDW vacations from August 11th to August 22nd and 2004 WDW vacations from August 1st to August 11th, all with the same AP park admission :)
Moreover we got two AP hotel discounts, various discounts at Behind the Scenes Tours, Restaurants / Shopping … money really well spent :)
Thursday morning, with no park admission, was dedicated to a detailed visit of the Resort. Ranger Stan was our guide in the Flag Raising Ceremony (Yes, we have been Flag Family, what a fun !) and in the Lodge Lobby Tour, a nice way to know about the Lodge, National Parks and Native America: a legend tells that the columns that are support for the roof hold up the heavens as well.
In the evening we had the Hoop- Dee-Doo Review and got a lot of fun: we had a very nice corner table in front of the stage.
In the mean time Charlie was taking shape … (to be continued)
