We are traveling to Alaska in July and MIL is debating getting a regular room next to us instead fo the handicap room she has reserved on a deck above us. The biggest thing for her would be giving up the seat in the shower. We could bring a stool for the shower, but I don't know how wide the tub is. I tried searching, but only found that the round tub is wider lol. Anyone have any measurements?

Tubs are quite narrow in my opinion. I hope someone can give you the measurements. We will be on the Magic soon, if that helps.

Another problem I think is the large, for me, step up/down into the tub. I have mobility issues, and have managed so far, but on our WBTA in September, I have booked HA, because it’s a longer cruise, and I really would have to use the shower.

The tub is very small, not sure a stool would actually work, I would be afraid the chair wouldn't sit level on the bottom of the tub.
You could go to the chat feature on the website and inquire about size, they should be able to help you.

That's a good idea! Thanks! We were just on the Dream after Thanksgiving and I didn't even think to measure that.

When we originally booked, I was trying to get the HA room on the same deck as us, but due to the site glitching, it wouldn't let me book online so we lost it. She is nervous about being a deck away and getting lost.

Have you contacted DCL? Maybe they even have something that would fit??

The tub is pretty small. Maybe you could use the messaging in the app to escort her to and from her cabin when needed.

If she is concerned about getting lost, tell her that the HA are at the end of the hallway and so there is only 1 way for her to go and that is toward everything. Plus, they have signage for room numbers, just like a hotel. And she is on a ship and can't really get "lost". If she keeps walking, she will find someone to help her. It might be easier for you to find a room closer to her, then the other way around.

I don’t think shower chairs we have used at home would fit in the tub (tub too narrow).

And the bathrooms in regular rooms require a step-up / down just to get in the room.

We have a group of 30 people going so moving rooms isn't really a good option. We booked opening day, but it wouldn't let us book the HA room down from ours. We were putting our daughter in with her (she is gold), but the online system wouldn't let the lead guest not be gold (our daughter is), so we lost it. I think she is much more capable of navigating the ship, but she has a high level of anxiety and is afraid she will "mess up". So she wants to be by us and that is ok.

She is ok with the step up and down. She uses a stool at home, and we thought if we could bring one that would fit then it would help her a bit. I think I'm going to contact guest services as I saw that they could provide shower chairs, and that would save us traveling with one along with making sure it fits.

You don't have to move the whole group, just have 1 room with someone closer to her so that she is not the only one that is apart. You really don't all need to be close to each other anyway.

One more thing
If I remember correctly the bottom of the bathtub is higher than the bathroom floor. So it may be difficult for the shower seat to be level.

If you are changing a room on the same cruise rather than cancelling, you get grandfathered in at the price the day you originally booked. You can call and see if they could move to a HA room on your deck. They hold back some HA rooms and don’t make them available online, so there may be one on your deck available if you call that is not showing as available online.
