I am trying to decide between the 2 ships for a land and sea trip. The kids will be 17, 17, 15 and 11

Well, with the ages of your kids, there's just more space onboard for them to enjoy themselves. Also, AquaDuck (not on the Wonder). The Dream has the new Beauty & the Beast show. As well as Vanellope's (if they're into ice cream stuff).

The Dream wins in a waltz for the same itinerary.

  • Two family pools instead of one
  • Aqua Duck vs. no major waterslide
  • Midship Detective Agency, interactive art, mini-golf, virtual sports & virtual golf on the Dream, but not the Wonder
  • On-demand Disney programming on stateroom TVs on the Dream vs. no on-demand programming on the Wonder
  • Beauty and the Beast show is very good
  • The Dream's Rainforest Room loungers & hot tub face out to sea on the Dream, but not the Wonder
  • Vanellopes
  • Outlook Cafe on the Wonder has been cut in half to accommodate concierge guests
  • Magical portholes in inside staterooms on the Dream, but not the Wonder
  • Bigger, more impressive atrium

We've sailed on both ships and would definitely choose the Dream for all of the reasons listed by the previous posters. The AquaDuck and Midship Detective Agency are two big attractions for us. Although the Dream is a bigger ship and carries more passengers its public spaces are laid out so well that it doesn't seem as crowded as the smaller ships.

If you’ve never been on either, I would pick the Dream. We’ve sailed both ships and if we were to do a 3 night itinerary again, I would pick the Wonder since the price is typically lower than the Dream and Castaway would be less crowded.

On a 3 day cruise I would pick the Wonder.
1) The Wonder is going to be significantly less expensive.
2) No sea days to wander and enjoy the big differences.
3) Most of the time will be taken up with sleeping, eating, shows, going ashore where there is very little difference.

If you had a sea day or decided to stay onboard one day I might choose the Dream. On a 7 night with the same itinerary I think the larger ships are worth the price differential.

That's a tough one for me. I love the Wonder, it was my first DCL ship and I've sailed on it the most. I guess part of my reason for liking it so much is the sentimental part, but I haven't been on it since it's been redone so I'd love to get back on it for that reason too. On the other hand my last 4 cruises have been on the newer ships so they are sort of feeling like home to me now, and nothing beats lounging in Satellite Falls. Also, I have never had a problem finding a chair in the sun on the adult decks on the newer ships, but I have on the older ships.

So, while I'm having a hard time deciding, there's some pros for each ship for you. If the new additions on the Wonder or Satellite Falls is important to you those option can guide your choice. Good luck!

I'd vote for the Wonder. Been on it 4 times vs Dream once. Main reason is that Wonder is less crowded. There are a lot more people when they max out the Dream class than when they max out the classic class, and I could tell the difference in density for shows and getting around in general.

For those ages, I'd also vote Dream. My daughter adored Tiana's Place and Frozen, but I doubt that would be such a big deal for teens.

I am in the same situation as you. The Wonder was our very first ship and we've been on the Dream many times so we opted to go back to the Wonder. We haven't been on her since they refurbished her.

Normally I would pick the Wonder but based on the fact that the cruise is so short, the itineraries are the same, and you have teens I would pick the Dream.

Can I piggie back on this post? Would you recommend dream or wonder for a quick 3 night Bahamas cruise with a 5 and 6 year old?

Since your stay would be a short one I would highly recommend the Wonder as your first choice. You will feel what the attention and closeness that everyone talks about. Then your next, go bigger and take in the extras they can offer.
