Just back from the 9/26 cruise. It was wonder-full! Anyways, our waiter was telling us that they were planning on switching iterneraries with the magic shortly, with the magic doing the 3 and 4 days and the wonder doing the seven. Could just be a rumor but it is interesting!

Is this really a possibility? We have cruised on the Magic twice and it might be interesting to cruise on the Wonder. What are the differences?

Sounds like a rumor to me. I have seen nothing that suggests DCL is considering this and bookings for 2003 and through April 2004 have the Magic doing the 7-night cruises and the Wonder doing the 3/4 nights.

The ships are identical except for decor and some names of restaurants and the nightclub area. I actually prefer the decor of the Wonder but the itinerary of the Magic is the best. :)

Perhaps the server's comments had to do with the potential of new and different itineraries in 2004, in which case it's anyone's guess as to which ships will sail where. :)

I LOVE the Wonder, but I would be a bit upset if they switched because I booked the 7-day western for Oct. next year with two things in mind - - Sailing on the Magic, and it being her first sailing after dry dock. If they switch, that defeats my plan. Now I am really looking forward to that cruise because it is Cruisetoberfest II and I've been getting to know other DISers on it through the thread for it. So I would still want to go, but would be disappointed if it isn't the Magic.

Logically, they couldn't do it. The Magic sails Saturdays. For it to do the 3 and 4 night cruises, it would have to sit overnight empty - since the 3 and 4 night cruises leave on Sundays and Thursdays. Now the Wonder would need to come in on a Thursday and sit til Saturday, being empty two nights.

OR

Everyone on a 7 night cruise would have to switch dates from Saturday to Saturday to Sunday to Sunday AND
Everyone on a 3 night cruise would have to switch from Thursday - Sunday to Saturday to Tuesday AND
Everyone on a 4 night cruise would have to switch from Sunday - Thursday to Tuesday to Saturday

Too, Too, Too, Too Much changes to even think about for 1 second.

It is true that the Magic did the 3 and 4 day cruises while the Wonder was in dry dock - but those were planned for and the days adjusted to fit the Wonder's timing.

After April 2004, anything is possible because they are not booking anything yet.

Last year we did a 3 day cruise on the Magic while the Wonder was in dry dock. Maybe it is something that they are planning to do while one of the ships is in dry dock?

I love both ships. Been on the Wonder once and the Magice twice. They are both great!

Wow - a logistical thinker KMovies! I hope they don't switch them around. Although they are so similar my family considers the Magic "our" ship and there would be minor disappoinments in missing out on our favorite places.

Hmm... you know now that I'm analyzing exactly what the server said, he never did say "switching", he just said "doing". I wonder if that means they are adding a seven day to the wonder? I've heard how very popular they are vs. the 3&4 day.
