Wonder large porthole - sunlight issue?

Quick question before we sail next week - how well do the curtains block sunlight for the large portholes on the Wonder? I've used the search function but it seems like people mostly are talking about the verandah curtains. Not sure if we should bring clips to better close them, or some other kind of additional shade. The kids will be on the window side of the cabin. We're west coasters, so no one will want to be woken up early by the sun. TIA, Merry Christmas, and Happy Hannukah!

The windows have a sheer curtain as well as black out curtains. I always bring clothespins along, in case they don't close all the way, but I've only needed to use them once, if I recall correctly. When closed, the room is pretty dark.

just make sure that the "blackout curtains" (the thick heavy ones" are overlapped before going to be. The room will be pretty darn dark. If they are not overlapped then that bright line of light will sneak in.

We are also from the west coast and always sail with a large port hole and don't have any issues with the curtains / light

Perfect, thank you both! I've only sailed in insides, on other lines, so I wanted to make sure.

Sadly, light won't be the issue - it will be the folks allowing their kids to run up and down the hallways that will wake you

In my situation... on port mornings.... docking can be noisy just below the windows.

We've long been in the habit of traveling with a white noise machine, mostly so DH and I can get ourselves ready for bed after the kids are in bed without feeling like we need to be silent. For whatever reason, my youngest is more disturbed by light than anything. His bedroom is a virtual cave with curtains over blackout shades. So that was really my only concern, and it sounds like I have my answer! I'll bring some clothespins just in case, and we'll be fine. Thanks all!

Definitely bring your clips. We were in an ocean view on deck 2 last week and there was always a sliver of light no matter how hard I try to keep them closed. Enjoy your cruise!
