I was wondering if anyone knows what changes will be made to the DISNEY Wonder in Dry Dock this year???

Anything New and exciting being added or changed? I am planning on cruising in Feb 2009.:woohoo:

It is the Magic, not the Wonder that will be in drydock this fall. The Wonder had her turn in 2006, I believe.

Oh OKAY................I thought it was every two years?

Last Wonder DryDock was Fall of 2006 (I thought). Guess I need to research it more.:confused3

:thumbsup2 As mentioned, the Magic will be in drydock September 2008. After the eastbound Panama Canal cruise, it will do one 5-Day Bahamas cruise and then it is off to Virginia for two weeks. We were scheduled on the 5-Day cruise. But, cancelled thinking they would start renovations while we were still onboard. I am also curious what kind of changes they will make on the Magic. I've heard rumors about more suites. But, nothing else. We don't sail on her again until November 2009. That seems so far away. :sad2:

I believe a major drydock is every 5 years. (Someone please correct me if I am off on that timeframe.)

:thumbsup2 You are correct. The Wonder did go into drydock in 2006. We were on a cruise after the drydock. I think they are required to go into drydock at least twice every five years. So, technically they are okay with the Wonder going into drydock next year. Maybe, there aren't any refurbishments on the schedule for them at this time? I looked/googled and can't find any information on this. Sorry, wish I could be more help. I honestly don't know why the Wonder isn't in drydock this year. It would have made more sense for the Magic to go into drydock in 2007 before the long trek through the Panama Canal crossings and Mexican Riviera cruises. I assume they know what they are doing.

The schedule was given out by DCL when the 2009 dates were released

I think its a good thing.............Because everything is NEW and Updated afterwards. (not everything)
But they make a lot of nice changes each time.:)

I would say good, because everything will be fresh. Also, they make changes to the ship, so you'll be the first to try them out!!:goodvibes

on our cruise last week they had a video on the TV of the last Magic dry-dock, it was simply amazing what they accomplished in just two weeks.

I haven't heard anything about this upcoming dry-dock other than the rumor of a luxury suite on top of the stack. I told my wife they ought to turn Pirate Cay into a Lion King themed restaurant. :-)

Is it a good thing or a bad thing to be scheduled to cruise after drydock?

We were on the first Wonder cruise right after the 2006 drydock. IMO, I would not choose the first cruise after drydock again. In our case, there were parts of the ship closed off and they were still completing some work. To me it also seemed that the staff was focused more on the leftover tasks and were not as engaging as usual. It wasn't a bad cruise (I've never had one :goodvibes ) but something seemed to be missing.

That's what I would think...I'd give it at least 30 days after a drydock. On the same subject, as much as I'd like to be on one of the first cruises on the new ships, I'd much rather give them at least 30, if not 60 days to get everything running smoothly there as well. For the amount of money you spend on a Disney cruise, I'd much rather have an enjoyable vacation than the insignificant claim of having seen something 'first'.
