I've decided that I'll book the Wonder for Presidents' Week 2018 while I'm on the Magic in 22 days (as long as I don't HATE the Classics). Now to decide stateroom...

I'm 95% sure I'm going to just do an Ocean View - I got "upgraded" to a Deck 5 verandah on my last Fantasy cruise and really didn't use the verandah all that much - I'd rather be out and about, so I can put the $700-1000 difference between OV and verandah to much better use.

So... I'm looking at Deck 1 - any of them 1030-1044 or Deck 2 - 2000-2010, 2508, or 2512 - as the most likely subjects. There are some on Deck 6 or 7 as well that are about $200 more, and that's a nice excursion or two, so... I LOVE being forward and am not affected by motion other than it helps me sleep even better.

Those of you who have stayed on Deck 1 or Deck 2 forward on the Classics, what do you think? If you've stayed on both, would you pick one over the other?

I like deck 2. Just love the large porthole over the two small ones.

That said, deck one is somewhat quieter, since the passageway only connects the forward and midship elevator bays. Much less traffic through there. And the rooms there are more midship than the ones you're looking at on deck 2.

Thanks. :)

It's literally only about $25 difference between the two, so... I'll see how I like my much-more-aft Deck 2 cabin on this upcoming one (accommodating my parents who are not as into the motion thing than my sister and I are - they don't get motion sick, but they just aren't as much a fan) and make a decision.

We did our first 5 cruises on deck 1 on the Magic and loved it. It was an upgrade and thought really on deck 1 but it was so easy to get off at ports , no elevators to wait for coming back from ports. Only a few flights up to the atrium . Just have to remember you can not get to the cabins from the aft at all.

Done the two port hole cabins on deck 2 as well. You get light in your room that is bonus but if your no in your room much it doesn't matter really.

Don't think you can go wrong with either.

There are 2 porthole rooms on deck 2?

I'm pretty sure they were small ones on that deck. Not one big one. It's been awhile though.
Not a great picture, but you can see the two small portholes (deck 1) and deck 2 has large portholes. That said, the 10 or so rooms on either end of deck two have smaller large portholes than the rooms in the midship area.

I would pick deck 2 over deck 1 just to get the 1 large porthole vs. the 2 small ones. We stayed in deck 2 aft (2116) on the Wonder for our Alaskan cruise last summer. Loved the location (by the aft elevators), loved the big porthole and all the natural light you get from it.

The Wonder is my favorite ship. We've sailed on her 4 times all on deck 2 forward and Aft. I love deck 2. I will never book anything else on the Wonder. I think you will enjoy how easy it is to get around the classics. I would choose the classics over the the Dream class everytime, but I my son loves the Fantasy so I'll be back on her this year.

We love Deck 1 on the Wonder. We are a family of 5 and alternate between category 4 on Deck 8 to fit all of us, and using to connecting insides on Deck 1. Super quiet, easy to catch an elevator, no motion on rough seas. My daughter and MIL got moved to an ocean view across the hall because of a maintenance issue with the room and the only difference is the two small portholes.

Thanks!

And now throwing a wrench into things, I know what I'm getting back as a refund. IF the 3-week turn around time happens, that would give me enough to add onto the gift card I'm using for my deposit and do the Fantasy. BUT I know last year mine was one of the refunds where I had to prove I am myself for fraud prevention, so I'm not counting on it coming on time AT ALL.

We have sailed with a deck 2 cabin several times now and loved forward (which we had for Alaska this past August). You probably already know this, the far forward cabins have more space in them due to the curvature of the ship, which is why I picked our cabin and we loved it.

I'd definitely choose deck 2 and again, we love it. We will be in deck 2 forward for our Med cruise on the Magic this summer.

Have fun!
Heather

Do you know what is above you for the deck 2 room? We were on deck 2 last year and it was very noisy above us at night as maintenance was cleaning a MDR.

This is why we go with Deck 1 over 2. I have also seen reports that under the galley/kitchens can be loud as well. Deck 1 has only staterooms above and nothing below, obviously.

I'll look at the deck plan and see. The ones I am looking at have no reports of noise like that on the reports - just some ship noise.

You've never been on the Magic or Wonder at all yet?

Isn't that a Star Wars weekend? Sounds like fun!
