In case you missed the planning report...
Me (36) and mom (72), travelling with my friend from work and his 3 (now 2 ) friends. Three night Wonder cruise, then 6 nights at WDW. First Disney cruise for all...
Friday, May 11
Slept in until 8:15, and the room service breakfast came right at 8:30 (we had placed the card on the door last night...that must be a fun job...wondering all over the hotel at 3am seeing if anyone has their menu out). The Tonga Toast was just okay...the Poly version is much better. It was pretty cool eating out on the balcony with giraffes though...
After breakfast, I walked around and took tons of pictures of the htel. Sad to have to leave such a beautiful place...
Headed down to the pool before the "official" opening of 10:00. Got my spot and spend about 3 hours relaxing in the sun and water. Mom was gonna come down, but wasn't feeling well when I left. I called her about noon and she had thrown up...great. I fell bad that mom never made it down to the pool, as it was so great.
I went up around 1:00, and mom sent me to the store for Pepto and Rolaids. She was just gonna stay in the room (and maybe meet me later), but decided to try and go. I think that she felt bad as it was our last day, and though we planned to meet the boys later, we were having dinner alone in Morocco tonight. I told her I didn't mind...I would just get fast food in Japan or something for dinner (I wouldn't have gone to Morocco alone), but she wanted to try.
Got to EPCOT a little after 2:00, and got a wheelchair. Decided to do Spaceship Earth, which was a walk on, but they told us to go through the back anyway. there were the nicest CMs at this attraction...really nice to mom and another wheelchair person. I found this attraction boring this time for some reason...
I was starving (hadn't had anything since breakfast), so I grabbed a cheeseburger and fries at Electric Umbrella (mom managed to eat some fries). Slowest service of any counter service place in WDW I think. I hated to break my rule of eating "normal" food at EPCOT (it seems such a waste to have burgers and fries when there is so much yummy fast food stuff at the countries). but we had to meet the boys in France at 3:00.
Made a quick run through Ice Station Cool (no Beverly though), and met all 3 of the boys at France. Left mom to people watch, and we browsed the shops, had a glass of wine and went to see the movie. I love the classical music in this...always gives me goosebumps! We said goodbye to the boys (with mom not feeling well, we were just gonna stroll around...I didn't want to hold them back). We started off around WS, and mom decided she was hungry for a snack. Of course, when she saw the funnel cake stand, that was what she wanted. Hmmm...someone's feeling better (just like a kid). I went for a rainbow kaki-gori. Delicious! Especially the strawberry and honeydew (tangerine wasn't as good). I love any type of shaved ice thing (I even have a Hawaiian Ice machine here at home), and these are the best! Sat on a bench and listened to some of the Flower Power concert (Marshall Tucker Band).
Went to see the little kid acrobats in China. They are so awesome! They did the show inside, and were as adorable as ever. What little hams!
We walked back towards Morocco, and as we passed the kaki-gori stand, I decided I had to have another! Got a strawberry this time (as it was my fav flavor). The lady remembered me...okay, I was a little emdbarrased, but they are just ice, right? Watched Tapestry Of Nations from a bench right where it exits in Morocco. Love the music and puppets.
A little late for our PS (had to wait for the parade to end), but were seated right away. Had a nice meal...some kind of alcoholic beverage, beef rolls, chicken shish-ka-bob, and mint iced tea. Everything was okay, but I think I liked it better the last time we were here (a few trips ago). Mom's couscous was tasty though. This ended up being the most expensive meal of the trip, and we only had 1 alcoholic drink, 1 iced tea, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees. It was cute when the belly dancer brought the little kids up to dance.
Decided to skip Illuminations (glad I had seen it Wednesday night) and headed out. Stopped in MouseGear, but still no sweatshirt for mom (this was the only souvenier she wanted). Wrong time of year I guess. We ended up going out by Test Track (okay, I did it on purpose), and mom said "do you want to ride?". So, I went one last time (single riders line). A nice last ride.
Got to the bus around 9:10, and back to AKL by 9:30. Stopped for our last snack/coffee/cheesecake, showered, trip notes, and started to pack up. It looks like everything will fit in the suitcases without using the emergency expandable tote bag we brought. Bed by midnight...
Tomorrow...we're outta here
