WOW!!!!!!!! All I can say is AMAZING!!!!!
This was the first cruise for DH & I. I wish some of our family or friends had joined us, but we still had a great time, even without children.
On Sun 2/24 we boarded the Wonder for our 1st ever cruise experience. The lady who checked us in was very nice and answered all last minute questions very efficiently.
We were able to board an hour earlier, so we took total advantage of that.
I was unaware of them announcing your family when you enter, so I felt like royalty when they announced us.
My DH got it on video!!! We got as many picutes of the ship as we could before it got to crowded. We had lunch at Pluto's Dog House. It's very nice walking up to a counter, asking for food and not having to shell out more money.
After lunch we went to our stateroom. We signed on for a Cat 11 (Inside stateroom). We got to the room about 2:00 and most of the luggage was already there. About 15 minutes later the last piece arrived. We unpacked, changed and went to do more exploring. During the emergency drill we saw dolphins jumping in the water. That was so cool!!!!!! (At 34 I am still very much a child at heart!
) Got some video of the boat leaving port. About an hour in to the trip, I started losing my balance (guess I didn't have my sea legs yet!). It actually helped me to have a room on the inside as the "wobble" was not as noticable. Went to see Hercules at 6:30. That put a bigger smile on our faces by the end of the show, then it was off to get character pictures (Mickey & Donald and Cinderella) I was a good adult and waited my turn, got the pics and left. Would have liked to hang around, but did not want to take too much away from the children. Had dinner at Tritons. I was baffled by the way the dining arrangement were set up. They sat us (2 peeps) with a family of 13!!!! Our servers were baffled also and asked if we wanted to be reseated. By this time the family started arriving and we felt uncomfortable leaving. While another family of 3 we met (SalbytheC) sat at a table for 4, then moved to a table for 6!! After dinner we were asked if we would rather be moved to sit with the other family so we took advantage of that.
On 4/25 we landed at Nassau. DH & I booked the Stingray adventure. What a BLAST!!!! You got to spend a lot of time with the stingrays and even got to feed them and have your picture taken with them. That was a lot of fun and would recommend that for anyone. The guides explain everything to you before you get in the water. (Including how to snorkel.) We got back to the boat about 3:00 and did the Bridge tour. That was very informative and I learned that if the stabilizers had NOT been out the day before, I would have been even more sick! Then it was off to see the comedian at 6:30. Very funny man (almost as funny as my DH). My DH laughed a lot (he usually does not like to watch comedians). Dinner at Animators Palate. Very beautiful restaurant. Enjoyed the show. And met the second set of servers. Very accomodating and funny to talk with.
4/26 was Castaway Cay day. We were looking for some quiet and relaxing time, so we slept in till about 10:00 and barely made breakfast. Then we headed off the Serenity Bay. I was a little disappointed the area was not as "cleaned up" as the family areas. There was seaweed washed up along most of the beach area. I am afraid of things hiding in the seaweed, so I walked to areas that were less weedy. The water was very clear and cool, but the day was warm! Spent a lot of time laying of the beach. After lunch I noticed the sign mentioning that the water conditions vary throughout the day, so I looked out and the ocean was almost GONE!!!! Once where people were wading up to the waist was now about ankle deep. The tide went out fast.
About 4:00 we headed back to boat and took a nap. We missed the Golden Mickeys, so I have no report on that. Got up in time for pin-trading and more character pictures. (Just waited for Mickey this time.) Dinner at Parrot Cay (Pirate Party night
) Servers were more amused by my hubby than we were by them. PM me for pictures of my dorky hubby! Went to Pirate party
and had fun. Loved dancing!!!
4/27 - Day at Sea. We weren't sure there would have been enough for us since we don't BINGO or have children, but were we surprised! We ate a late breakfast, then went to Debarkation Presentation. Since it was our first cruise, we had no idea what was expected.
Then purchased our souviners, and made arrangements for tips. Before lunch we attended the "Making of the Wonder", the Asst Cap was hilarious, and the Maintenance Super was trying. We learned even more than on the bridge tour. We had lunch again at Plutos Dog House then attended the towel folding demo. I learned how to make many animals that now grace my sister's room when she gets home from school. After that we tried our hands at Golf with the Chipping Competition. I did horrible, even though I have NEVER held a club before. Then we hung out on the "secret" deck area on Deck 7. We attended Disney Dreams. That was a nice show. Very kid-friendly. Wish I had a kid to share it with. Dinner was again at Parrot Cay. At the end of dinner we had our picture taken with Harlan and Wesley, our servers, and the other Dickson family (our last name is Dickson also, not sure if any relation).
CM Michael (from S Africa) narrated the Bridge Tour, ran around with the mic at the "Making of the Wonder", introduced the Housekeeping Super at Towel Animal Creations, and was in charge of the Golf Chipping contest. By the end of the night I felt like we were stalking him since he was everywhere we were, only earlier!
4/28 - Debarkation Day - Parting is such sorrow (and not sweet having to come back home to MI where just 5 days earlier they got snow!!!!
) We had breakfast at Parrot Cay with SalbytheC. I am glad we had the later dinner because on debarkation day you eat breakfast at the dinner place from the night before. If you have 6:00 dinner, breakfast is at 6:30. 8:30 dinner had breakfast at 8:00. I am NOT a morning person so that was nice. Took the Disney bus back to Orlando Int'l and was actually able to get an earlier flight home!!! We took it otherwise we would have sat in airport for 5 hours before coming home.
This is our wonderful vacation. Booked our next cruise while still on board. Will be moving it to May 2007 when those rates are released. Gathering recruits now, any takers???
