It's Nassau day, and everyone gets out of bed a little late. No biggie, though, I went up to the Beach Blanket buffet to get some goodies for us to munch on as we got ready to check out the town. BTW it's a beautiful day and pretty warm outside :sunny:

I had heard a lot of different things about Nassau from reading these boards. I was expecting to be bombarded by people wanting to sell us stuff, but that didn't really happen. Sure, we got a few people asking if we wanted to take cab rides and tours, and a few who wanted to braid my and DD's hair, but that was about it. A few polite replies of "No thanks" worked well and we had fun walking through the shopping areas.

We couldn't believe how many jewelry shops there were! I'd say they easily outnumbered the regular souvenir places! Not being much on jewels, we only went into a few of the shops, and we looked at watches. More on that later :)

We really wanted to see the Straw Market, so we made our way over there. They had moved it over about a block because of the hurricane damage. From what we saw, there were lots of vendors. However, the aisles were pretty narrow so we had trouble maneuvering the umbrella stroller around. We only went through a few rows before getting out. There were lots of pretty little purses, boxes, baskets, etc., but the prices were high. I'm guessing it was to try to recoup for the hurricanes earlier in the year. Honestly, we paid less for the same kind of stuff in Hawaii! DD3 got a cute little purse with Snow White on it, though. The lady who sold it to us also put DD's name on it while we watched (no extra charge). I was mesmerized by her skill and figured she could do it with her eyes shut. DD loved the purse and had fun showing it to everyone we saw that day

On the way back from the Straw Market, we stopped in a couple of liquor stores to see what they had. DH was eyeballing some of the "extra special" Johnny Walker stuff, but never bought any. Back in the old days, he would have jumped on the bottles, but since we hardly ever drink now, those bottles would have done nothing more than gather dust if they lived at our house. LOL!

Oh, the Del Sol stores were kinda neat. They sell the t-shirts and other things that change color in the sun. DD and DS got t-shirts, and I got my free tote bag.

The last stop we made before getting back on the ship was Tower Jewelry. They had a really pretty Movado watch. DH insisted that I get it, and that it was my :bday: present! :Pinkbounc I was literally in shock. He said that I deserved it for all that I do for him and the kids

So we get back onboard and have lunch at the Beach Blanket before taking DD to the Oceaneer's Club and before DS takes off for the teen club. We went back to the stateroom to veg and watch a couple of movies. We saw The Bourne Supremacy and Raising Helen on the telly. LOL! I know that people will think we're weird for not getting out to watch the live shows and stuff, but we were perfectly happy just enjoying each other's company. DH travels a LOT for work so it was nice to just be together with no distractions.

Went to bingo again and didn't win anything, but it was fun. Saw a lot of the usual suspects from the night before, too! ;)

Dinner was at Parrot Cay. John was a bit more perky tonight, and Herman was just as sweet as ever. DD was in her Snow White dress and shoes, and she really got a kick out of everyone telling her how pretty she looked princess: . John even hugged her and got a kiss! We got a really cute picture of her kissing Minnie by the Christmas tree, too ::MinnieMo

I think I forgot to mention that we had our own table, as it was a full ship for this cruise. There was a family at the next table who we dubbed "the big hair family", because they had the biggest hair we'd ever seen! I swear as the nights went by, the hair just got bigger and bigger! It was like a magnet. :earboy2:

DD loved the kid's club so much that she literally fell asleep at the table. We ate as fast as we could so we could get her to bed. I have to say that if you have really energetic little ones, the cruise (and WDW itself) has a way of making them ASK for their pajamas and they jump into bed with no complaints or requests for something to drink

DH and I ended up sitting on the verandah and talking before hitting the hay. It was another great day :)

sounds like you all had a fantastic time

i'm always impressed when someone can keep a whole vacation a secret!!

thanks for taking the time to post :flower1:
