I have found lately that if I buy low rise jeans that sit on my hips I take a size six. If I buy jeans that are worn at the waist I take a ten or twelve. I searched a bit online and I came across this....
jeans-sizes.html
Jean sizes

I just thought it was interesting and wonder if there are any other women out there wondering why they have to buy different sizes for different styles of jeans. I think it's weird that a 10 in jeans worn at the waist is a 6 worn on ther hips. :confused3

That is really weird...BIG difference. I wear a 6 no matter the style it seems.

That is weird...I mean it's a big difference! I'm a 6 no matter the style.

Now, I always take a smaller size if I get stretch jeans in misses sizes and have them hemmed up. And they have to be at my waist - I'm extremely long-waisted and low rise jeans don't come up high enough. Regular rise is low rise for me!

Non-stretch, petite jeans, I need at least 2 sizes larger. And then the rise usually isn't long enough.

If you check the above link or can see the picture you would have to have a 26.5 inch waist and 37 inch hips to fit in a 6 for both styles of jeans. According to that chart your waist would be about 10 inches smaller than your hips. Does that sound right? I wonder if the chart is off or do I just have a weird shaped body since I take two different sizes.

My waist is 32 inches and my hips are 37. That just seems like about what it should be.
Thoughts anyone? :confused3

Are these the same brand of jeans and cut otherwise? I find that odd since I usually have to go *bigger* for low rise jeans to fit my hips right. I'm a 2 in most things and a 6 in my jeans. Granted these jeans are the old size 6 (not the vanity sizing) so maybe they are closer than I think ;)

That is odd though... and I wouldn't say that chart is good for all clothing. I fit into totally different sizes at different places. Makes it hard to know where to start usually

The vanity sizing is addressed in the link I posted. I do find that annoyning. I don't understand why they can't make womens jeans that say the measurement in inches instead of these pretend sizes based on how much the jeans cost! Kind of silly. The men get the facts on their jeans and we get told what we want to hear if we spend enough.
Hey maybe I should market that idea! Jeans for smart women and call them equality! :goodvibes
