OK, how annoying is it to hear the "chirping" from the women's gymnastic team as a team mate is performing on the uneven bars. If the girls weren't so nice to look at I'd have to change the channel! ;)

Is it just me getting older, or do these girls all look about 10 years old? I mean, I know gymasts need to be small, but these girls all look sooooooo young! My gosh. Very talented though, I cannot imagine how they get their bodies to do some of those moves.

I love watching gymnastics!!:D They are not as young as you might think. One is 25. Most are 15-18 if I am not mistaken.

Go USA!!

Hubby and I were just talking about that......how very young they all look.
As another poster said some of them are in their 20's...can you say "stunted growth"?? I thought you could. :earseek:

And yes, the chirping is WEIRD! I've never heard them do that before.......unless I've just not listened. When did they start doing that? How weird.

The thing I think is very sad is that there isn't anybody in attendance at these olympics...

I attended the Olympics in Atlanta...and every seat at every sport was filled...it didn't matter if it was a quarter final or a final there were hundreds/thousands of people cheering these athletes on...

Greece did a really poor job of promoting these olympics....

Part of the problem might be attributed to fear of terrorism. I know some US athletes pulled out at the last minute and I'm sure part of the reason was personal safety.

I agree though, it is a shame. I'd love to attend the Track and Field events.

Today is Sunday and a very holy day in the Christian calendar, Feast of the Assumption. Most of the locals would be attending church services. These qualifying rounds are in the AM, so I think the night event attendance will be better.

Bob Costas mentioned that last night about the men's trials in gymnastics. There is a big Greek holiday today, moreso than just the Sunday church regulars. He also said that the higher seating which is mostly out of our view is pretty full but that the lower seating which is quite a bit more expensive wasn't selling as well.

I love watching gymnastics. It is one of my favorites. Did anyone watch the men's yesterdays? Yikes. Watching Blaine fall from the high bar nearly gave me a heart attack but then when the guy on the parallel bars broke his finger and it was sticking up the wrong direction, I thought I might get sick. Gymnasts are a resilient bunch!!

Watching that beam thing, I always am thinking they are going to fall off, but, as we know, they rarely do. Great athletes.

I'm sure there is a VERY good reason why the men do not perform on that beam!
