My dr decided I needed to try this out. Is there anyone that has this and do you have any good or bad side affects from it? I looked on Yasmin's website and I saw very little about it, but I did find something on there that I think is a good side affect. I'm curious about finding out more about it.

TIA

Yasmin was the last pill they tried before yanking my uterus. It was primarily to keep me regular and it failed. Miserably. But then again, so did everything else. Good luck with it.

Missy, I should've asked him to yank my uterus, I just didn't think about it.;) He's not giving it to me for bc (he tied my tubes almost 7 yo:teeth: ), but to help me go through my 2nd adolescent phase (not menopause, I think that's the 3rd adolescent phase I'll go through).;)

I'm not taking Yasmin yet, but i'm meeting up with my doctor in a few weeks to discuss it.

I'm taking it, have been since last fall. It's nice to know EXACTLY when my cycle will start and it has cut down dramatically on bleeding- no more anemia for me!:D No bad side effects here!

KJP, I told my SIL that's the first thing I thought of when he said he wanted to put me on Yasmin. I was wondering what kind of dr I was seeing.:teeth:

Von, do you know anyone taking it?

Lorelei, I'm glad to know there's not any bad side affects.:) On Yasmin's site, it says it removes unnecessary water and sodium out of your system. I'm wondering if it does, and how that'll affect me. I haven't been on bc's for 11 years.

I hadn't taken them since before my dd was born! Haven't noticed any water loss here.... no weight gain either though (thank heavens!)

one of my friends just started taking it. the first week she got major migraines but then she stopped having them!! she hasn't had a migraine in about 2 months!

i would rather take ortho evra (the patch) because i'm forgetful about taking a pill every single day.

I've been taking Yasmin for almost a year. I've found that I'm not retaining water like before.
However....I'm also not taking it for BC reasons. It's being used to totally suppress my cycle. so far so good.

I'm taking it and have no problems. Not gaining weight (not losing it either though). My cycles last only about 4 days and they're not bad. No cramps or anything.

So far so good with me!

Yasmin was my first BCP. I was on it for regulatory and BC reasons. The only place I gained weight was in the chest -- which was good, as I was an A. Now I'm a B! It really, really helped with the cramps and such from my period. Almost completely removed my PMS.
HOWEVER, I was not, erm, interested in DH on Yasmin. Which he didn't like. (He also didn't like that it was low-dose -- made him nervous!) I switched to OTC, gained a couple pounds, but also gained back that necessary drive. ;)

I was on ortho novum [necon] for awhile but started with weird symptoms this winter. I began having anxiety attacks and just feeling 'weird'. After seeking regualr medical consultation I visited my gyno. She said that I should try a lower dose estrogen. For the past two months I was on lo-ovral [generic equivilant]. The feelings of anxiety went away BUT I began to retain water VERY BAD and have been feeling AWFUL! I've been dieting and not losing any weight --- as I can just feel my body filling up with fluid. All I want is to feel human again. So beginning TONITE --- I start Yasmin. PLEASE let this make me feel normal again! I'll let you know how it goes.

I am not on the pill for BC reasons [DH took care of that] but instead to control my cycle/bleeding. I have a very large uterine fibroid.

I am hoping that I don't get a lower sex drive with these pills!

I take it for regulation and emotional purposes also and I LOVE IT! It hasn't totally brought back the sex drive that the Mircette made me lose but it has regulated me, I too love knowing what day I will start (and it's generally to the minute also) - the cramping is 1/4 of what it use to be (I still get cramping), the bleeding is lowered also. I still have some PMS symptoms but I don't get the headaches I use to get and I don't get the bloating I use to get (it use to be BAD). I also am not an emotional wreck either - I was on antidepressants at one point because I needed the pill for regulation but it was whacking out my emotional state. Went off of those immediately. When I was on Mircette I also had horrible water retention and I have very little (I still have some) with Yasmin. I really do love this pill.

It does lower your sex drive some though but for me I think some of that is also still emotional too.

Thanks for the replies everyone.:) I'm hoping I'm glad to hear there's not too many bad side effects and the consensus is it's a good medicine.:) I had never heard of it until my GYN told me today he wanted to try me on it.

 Medicines usually have the opposite affect on me. Non-drowsy makes me sleepy, I was on b/c when I got pregnant with my dd, I feel sorry for my SO.:teeth:

Shannon, I haven't taken it but just wanted to wish you luck with it. I'm like you with meds.....I can have some of the weirdest side effects with certain ones!!! I can barely take tylenol!! :jester:
