Well it's official, they've cast the remake of the 80's teen-action "hit" RED DAWN. We actually just watched it the other night, and while it is super sized cheese, what a fun and memorable ride it was. I don't know how this new cast will stack up against the old one (Tom Cruise's son Connor is in the new version!). NOt ashamed to admit, my cousins and I used to play Red Dawn in the backyard...I was always the Jennifer Grey character...bummer, but I learned how to do a fantastic death scene! Every so often my dad would pop his head out the back door and yell "AVENGE ME!" to us.

Good times...to bad we didn't have an overheated radiator. Sometimes we'd sneak red Kool-Aid for the deer scene.

Why or why does Hollywood have to remake everything? This is a pet peeve of mine. Don't they have any original ideas? It's okay when they do a good job, but so often, they don't. The original was a great movie. Why not leave it at that. MOVE ON, HOLLYWOOD!

Red Dawn is one of my favorite movies. I really hate remakes on any movie. I really think Hollywood needs to get some people who can write their own stuff instead of rewrite other peoples movies.

Anybody see the Family Guy epidoe where Peter starred in "Red DAwn: The Musical"? HILARIOUS!

I love Red Dawn!!! Super sized cheese and all.

We use to play Plant of the Apes when the cousins all got together at Grandma's farm. We had plenty of corn fields to run thru and empty corn cribs to use as holding cages. What fun times, when we used our imaginations to come out with story lines to play out.

I will put this one right there with the Fame remake. Have seen previews for Fame 3 times now. DH has never seen the original. Asked if I wanted to go see it. Told him, I would just rent it. Told him he needs to watch the original first.

I kinda like remade films. It's fun to compare and contrast a good remake with the original. That being said, I understand that United Artists is doing the remaking, so it will probably stink.

They are filming it here in the Detroit area. Josh from Drake & Josh on Nickelodeon is also in it. My SIL works for the company who is handling the security on the set. They aren't fightng the Russians this time. I think she said they are fighting the Chinese in the remake.

I heard it was russians and chinese. There is a lot of "new" names on the cast. Here's a link to the EW article: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20285234,00.html
