DH and I will be in WDW in December. I am the planner of the trip, yet I do ask DH for input. His only input for our upcoming trip was "I would like to eat at Wolfgang Puck's." He has recently become a FoodTV devotee, though he does not (usually) cook. I have looked at both menus, and both sound very good. I even showed the menus to DH, but he has no interest unless he is about to order. The Cafe seesm to have more variety, while the Upstairs seems to have a little more flair.

What would you suggest????

BTW, DH and I eat only seafood and chicken. No beef, pork, lamb, etc. DH is a tuna fanatic! The rarer the better. We also love sushi, which both restaurants do prepare. I'm lost!!!!!!

We are also eating ay Jiko, Chefs de France, Flying Fish, and V&As during our trip.

DW and I have eaten at both. You couldn't get me to go "Upstairs" if you were paying. We had mediocre food and poor service. We seemed to get lost by our server and her assistant. The food downstairs was also better.

I've eaten at both and honestly downstairs is easier to navigate and the service does seem a little snappier. The food is more classic "Spago" inspired food. And...it's less expensive downstairs.

Would not go back to Wolfgang Pucks Upstairs. We had poor service and the food was just below average. My DS had the Tuna. I have pictures on my review site. I will try to find it and you can look at the pictures.

We ate downstairs and were stunned at the quality of the food (and service! -- there were 5 adults and 4 kids). The daily specials are as close to upstairs as you'll want to get.

Enjoy! :p

Krissalee - I found my post and Bumped it up to the first page. Take a look at the Seared Tuna and read my comments I made about it!

The cafe food is wonderful!!!! Where else can you enjoy a gourmet wood-fired pizza, a wonderful glass of pinot grigio (actually a little bottle), sit outside under an awning in a rainstorm (it hasn't rained in Ohio all summer, so we liked it!) in a Disney poncho, and be totally content? :smooth:

We had a great meal here!!! It was one of those totally unplanned, feel-good times that just about makes you cry (maybe it was the pinot grigio?):p

Thanks for all the responses! The cafe it will be! Their menu seems much more extensive as well. I can't wait to see the decor!

nutz4disney - thanks for bumping up your post. I remember reading them when you initially posted them. I loved your reviews!:D

Again another recommendation for downstairs. Try to sit on the back patio, it overlooks the water and is a little less noisy than inside. One of our favorite things on the menu is the Caeser Salad, best I have ever had. Have fun!:p

Can you make a reservation for the WP Cafe?

If you can't, have you waited long for a late lunch or early dinner?

Thanks,
penny

You can also get a 20% discount off of your meal at WP Cafe during the afternoon ( I think noon-5pm or so). Just make sure they give it to you! DH and I ate at the cafe twice last trip and both times had to send the bill back for the discount even though we had mentioned it to our server at the beginning of our meal.

The chairs in this restaurant are a little tippy - DH actually almost fell out of his chair, and he is not a huge guy, tall but quite slim!

The smoked salmon pizza is amazing!!

We just ate there yesterday. Yummy! We are members of Puck's Points- you get a point for every dollar you spend, and after 200 points you get a gift certificate. Also they send out buy one entree get one free cards. Well we happened to have one of those, and if you go on their web site www.wolfgangpuck.com and print out the page advertising their new desert (look for instructions) it will be free. I saved like $18. BTW the desert coupon is good till 9/30/02 for any of you going soon!:p

Where's Pluto? I just sent you a PM. Thanks!
