If we get WOC fast passes and show up right before the show starts, what happens? Do we get a spot to stand? Can we see at all? What if we show up 30 minutes prior?

Just curious what happens if don't stand in line for hours.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. :)

From this thread:

"World of Color Superthread" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37986447

And this post in that thread addresses your question - at least in part:

Well. You don't necessarily stand in line for hours, there is no line to stand in for hours. You get a FP, the FP has a time that the show starts, then another time that you need to come back and line up to get into your section. ..when you come back to PP at the time suggested you may have to wait at that moment for 30 min or so. Part of getting an FP for WOC is that it's a coin toss as to what section and time of show you get..you won't really know what the machine will give you till you get your FP, if you don't want to battle that out, then try doing the meal options.

:)

When we went last July, we had to stand for hours lol.. They told us we could come 30 mins before our time. We started walking towards it and there was a huge line already! We got in line around 8ish and our showing was around 10:30 or so...it was probably just really busy because it just opened :) Im SURE its not like that now!! Or atleast Id hope not. lol

Good luck!!

it's not. that was becuase it had just openend for you! i mean you will still wait in line for 30 min before going to your section, but it's not as bad as it was when it opened!

Thats good to know!!! We are going in June and we werent planning on going to WOC again because of all the waiting, standing, getting soaked, then almost drying out cuz of the fire LOL.. We might go now, but im sure it might be more busy in June :)

oh see that is summer time, yeah so it might be busy.. Woc is a big attraction for DCA. i don;'t know if you will be waiting hours on hand for a FP or not come june, but im sure you will still have to wait 30 min in line for your section..

Thats what I figured :thumbsup2 Thanks for the heads up!!! We will probably skip it anyways .

Thanks for the info everybody!

So if you wait 30 minutes to go in .... then how long is it until the show starts?

Also, I've read lots of the discussions about how to get a really good viewing spot, but what about those who don't? In other words, if you're in say the yellow section, not at a railing, towards the back. Are you still going to be able to see most of it, or will most of it be blocked?

Just wondering if I want to invest in premium dining or not.

Thanks again!

OK, I think you are going to have to define what you mean by "wait" and what the wait is relative to. My answers here in the thread are relative to the start of the show. If you show up at 8:30 and the show is at 9:00, that is a 30-minute wait.

I did not get a sense you read the link I gave earlier which mostly answered your question. To be completely clear, if you show up 30 minutes before you may get a decent viewing spot if you know where to go. But you are still taking a huge chance. If a decent spot is available (like the fire hydrant) then you are OK. If not then you have to do your best. Where you would actually stand at that point and what kind of view you would have is a crapshoot and depends on how tall you are.

Actually, I've read the entire WOC Superthread and the other link you posted to as well. In that post, you mention getting to the queing area 90 minutes early for the best viewing spot and 60 minutes early for still a very good chance at a good view spot.

I'm not willing to do the 90 minutes, but 30 is OK. In your thread, I was thinking you meant 30 minutes in the queing area and then wait again once you are into the viewing area.

Thanks again for the help. I think I'll try my luck with showing up 30 minutes before.

ok.. so check this out …

if you got an FP that says “come back between 7:00 and 7:30pm”(if the show starts at 8:15pm to PP area for lining up for your section for WOC and you arrive at 7:15pm,then you still gotta wait like 45 min or so before they let you into your area or section.

So what hdyro said was right, you show up for your section, you wait depending on what time you arrive back and then they let you in your area, then you wait like a short time till the show starts! :)

hydro your info is awesome!

Sounds like we are on the same page.:) Pretty much everyone lists "how early to arrive" relative to show time.

The DISer Disneyland 1951 said that the fire hydrant is often available even 30 minutes before the show starts. But that is blue section.
