WOC strategy for enjoyment

You'll probably want to check out the WoC superthread by Hydroguy for tips but here are some of mine if you don't want to read through all of that thread:

~ The closest spots are not the best viewing spots. You need to stand a good distance away to see all three frames.

~ The best section is Blue, followed by Yellow and then Red.

~ Forgot about lining up way before DCA opens to get tickets. Guests who stay at the Disney resort properties get dibs on the tickets at opening plus the tickets for the Preferred Dining packages are mostly for the first show. Instead, try to get tickets in the Blue Section (best section) for the later shows.

~ If you have a fast pass in the Blue Section, stand on the handicap ramp next to the rail for the perfect viewing spot. Most people rush to the front not realizing that they will not be able to get a view of the full show as they will be too close. The handicap ramp is slightly elevated so that you can see above everyone's heads who are standing up front and it allows you to get a full picture.

~ If you get a fast pass for the other sections, you will want to line up at least 15 minutes before the actual return time stated on your ticket in order to get a good spot. Although Disney does not officially allow people to line up before the return time, a lot of people hang out in the area before the indicated time and they all rush for the line once it opens up.

~ In the event that you do not get a good viewing spot (i.e. stuck standing behind someone who is 7 feet tall especially if you are short like me), consider going in the Wet Zone for a better view. Keep in mind that you will get wet...really wet but it's better than looking at the back of people's heads (bring/buy a poncho if this is your plan).

~ Keep in mind that you cannot save spots for people so have your entire party with you when you line up.

Have fun! :goodvibes

Thank You so much!

Does the wetzone ever fill up?

Do they ever kick you out of the handicaped ramp?

The whole area fills up with very limited exception. The back of each section has a few feet roped off for access.

There are many who would agree with the above and many who would disagree. It is very subjective.

I personally have seen WOC four times and on one night I saw it twice - once from the very front, very center in the wet red zone and then in the far back right next to the VIP section. Both spots have been advocated as the best spots. The thing that struck me that night was how everything appeared different between the two spots. From the front you saw things you did not from the back, and vice versa. My overall advice to everyone is to see the show from both spots if you can because the experience feels so different. My personal favorite? Neither. I liked the spot at the front rail of preferred dining the best. It was elevated a little more than the red wet zone and the show was not so much in your face - even though it was only a matter of maybe 30 feet. Between red wet zone and blue near VIP, I liked red wet zone better - even though it is true you cannot certain effects because you are so close.

Also, there is no consensus on whether blue, yellow or red is better. Red is often considered the worst section - unless you get to the red wet zone in which case many people say that is the overall best spot.

So bottom line is your experience with WOC will not depend so much on which color section you are in but where you are within that section.

Is there a place on the roof at GCV somewhere? Does anyone know how crazy that area gets and if the view is decent? Our kids don't care much for shows, but we're hoping we can at least step out there one night. (We're staying at GCV.)

Decent from there, not really, it a really slanted view. If you have kids this show in particular would be fun for them as it incorporates parts from many different movies.
