Here's some info...
We are going to DL 6/8, 9, & 10. We were planning on going to US on 6/11. We are from Ky and this is our first time to DL. We probably won't be back anytime soon. We have a 7 year old and 5 year old twins.

My question is do we switch things around and go to DL 6/11 and try to do WOC? I have been reading the WOC superthread and I still can't make my decision. I am nervous about dealing with a crazy crowd, unreasonable wait time (with 3 kids), etc. on a premier night, but then again...this is it. Probably our only chance to see it.

so you veterans out there, what do you think? And anyone else for that matter. All input is appreciated!

Thanks!

Maybe not a bad idea to switch the 10th and 11th. US will be slower on the weekday. I think on the 10th DL has short hours too, so it may be a better day to miss.

I'd really decide last minute though. As DL changes it schedule around.

So hard to say - especially since no one has seen the show yet. Your kids are small - and I suspect it may be challenging to get them a good view. Especially on opening day with zero experiences available from others.

On the other hand, if it turns out to be jaw droppingly good, you may get home and regret it.

For me I really do not like having to live with regrets like that and would probably switch and see WOC. But that is just me.

@hydroguy

which color/section is the best view for WOC? Will the machines be marked? If my family enters Disneyland and NOT DCA can I get th passes or will I get the same message as fast pass that it has not been used for entry?

Thanks in advance. Oh, do you have any tips for us shorties??

thanks letitsnow. You took the words out of my mouth! We are leaning towards going for it and I want to be as prepared as I can!

I do not yet know the best section for viewing. I understand the best section are higher up. I do not know where the colors will be.

The FP machines will be at GRR. No idea about marking or signs. Once everyone enters DL or DCA the tickets are initialized to get FPs for both parks.

I agree strait through this with this reply.
The colors may or may not be the defininition of areas. They are easily divided by three. Red, Yellor, Blue, three colors. Think about how disney divides things. I think it is thousands of time more likely the sections are Dumbo, Scrooge and Alice.

Who knows what section will be designated what? They have said that the fountains will be very tall, so it may very well be better to stand back than get close. popcorn::

Disney has already decided to divide in colors. 5 colors, 4 sections.

I would not do it on opening night. I wouldn't even do it a week or two after it premiers. We have small kids though, and my husband doesn't like crowds.

I'd do the dinner or the picnic trays if I were you, to maximize your chances of seeing the show... especially since you only have the 1 night... With 5 of you, dinner would be spendy, I'd probably lean to the picnic trays--you'll need to eat anyway, and those aren't too much more $$ than counter service...

How badly do you want to see it? If it's something you just HAVE to do, then switch and just be ready to have whatever crowd/viewing issues you have thrown at you. Is it worth it to you to see it, even with the mass chaos it will undoubtedly be? Will your kids do find handling everything?

See for us, we're in the seemingly vast minority of people who don't care to see WoC. It wouldn't be worth it to me to switch everything around, deal with opening day stuff, etc. But that's just us. We don't do a lot of shows and parades in WDW, either.

I booked the WCT package and I'm going to see how the reports for the first couple of days turn out. I don't have my heart set on it, and since there's no cancellation penalty, it's no big deal to me if we decide not to go. If reports are it's a nightmare, I'm not doing it. But if people say it worked decently and the show was out of this world, we are set. Easy come, easy go. Honestly, if they hadn't come out with a relatively affordable option with some sort of preferred viewing, I probably would have just said fuggedaboutit...

ETA: So with that, reports from anyone going on June 11 and 12th will be MOST appreciated :) We're going the 13th and I will definitely chime in with my "guinea pig" report.

I am in a similar situation. We planned our trip without knowledge of the WoC premiere and we now expect to be in park on June 11. I just decided, that since we don't know when we get back, to invest in a fancy dinner (we were likely to do one anyway) and see the show with reserved, preferred viewing. My DD is 7 and short.

Some of the comments mentioned that dinner/tickets package were "unobstructed" which will be a good choice with a short DW and an even shorter DD. I have been in park about 10 times when Fantasmic has been showing. Since we were not willing to invest 3 hours to get good seats, I have never seen the show.

I know I could change to a picnic and save some money but I would assume know what I am paying and know I will get the best experience I can hope for, given the timing.

We have never invested 3 hours for Fantasmic and have usually had good seats. When our kids were your DD7's age we did a 9PM one year and waited about 2 hours with a blanket. Once. Since then we always go to the 10:30 show and only wait 40-45 minutes. Down in front, great view. 10:30 is late for little ones of course and so a good long nap would be essential in my mind. :)

You also have the paid dessert option which is another way to avoid the 3 hours.

Since we only can take one "vacation" a year due to work, we like to do a little higher quality. There are many ways to work around how the Disney schedules are set up. We like to ride many of the rides at night so we avoid the later shows, I like to sit to enjoy something, but not on hard ground(I have done more than enough) not stand. I must admit I have never seen the fireworks from the hub, too much time wasted there for me.

Time of year makes a hugh diff on what the crowds may be like. By the time we get there in August and Hydroguy has analyzed the process when he visits in July, I will have a great idea on how to approach WOC. We do plan, research, and do it again. Once we hit the parks we have a great idea of what we want to do and then On with the show".
