We'd like to see the second WOC show on Tuesday. We figure the second show will have less small children...and hopefully less kids sitting on parents shoulders! We were going to get fast passes when DCA opened at 9:30...not knowing how quickly they will run out, since people staying a the Grand can get in at 9:00, and it is an unblocked day. But I think they have to run out of FP's for the first show before they give out FP's for the second show...is this right? Is there any way to know when to get FP's for the second show? I'd really just like to get my FP's first thing, then not have to worry about when to come back. Any suggestions? This will be our first time seeing WOC.

You are correct that all of the first show's FP's must be distributed first before they start distributing FP's for the second show. You can ask the CM near the machines and they'll be able to tell you what's being distributed now, but that might be a hassle to keep checking in. If you really want to guarantee the second show, you can order a picnic lunch if they are still available and request the second show, or else hang out in DCA and check in every so often on the FP's. If you don't care about getting a blue (the best) FP for the second show, then it's probably pretty safe to come back after lunch and they'll be giving out second show passes for SOME section, but I can't guarantee when they'll start giving out the good FP's for the second show.

Tickets come out in order, First show Blue, Yellow, Red. When gone, then Second shor Blue, Yellow, Red. When gone if a third show the sequence repeats.

While there is not definite was to determine when to be there for a specific show pass, there is historical data to guide you. Look at the World of Color Superthread. In many posts Disneyland1951 has compiled the data you want.

So it might be a good idea to go on Soaring, then try to get the FP's for the second show? We really didn't want to spend $80.00 on picnic dinners for our family of five.

I think you have a lot more time than that. Some of those estimates in the superthread are from last year when WOC first opened. It doesn't seem to be as much of a mad rush. Yesterday I went to the parks and there was only one WOC show. I arrived at 10 (which is technically an hour after they start distributing since Disney hotel guests can get them starting at 9), and was in DCA until 12:00 before walking over to DL and they still were distributing for that one show, so you have at least until noon before they even start distributing for the second show but I think it's probably even longer than that, I just didn't wait around to see how long.

Wow...thanks, that is really good to know. I guess we'll just check back after rides.

It is now the busy summer season.
2nd show WOC Fastpasses usually begin distribution between 10:45 and 11:15.

Rough Fastpass distribution times at GRR:
Update June 2011
The Fastpasses still run out at about the time shown. on very busy days.
1st show (8:00 or 9:00pm)
9:00 - 9:50 = Blue
9:50 - 10:15 = Yellow
10:15 - 10:45 = Red
Note: On a very slow day the Blue can last until 11:00am, Yellow until about 12:30, and Red available until late afternoon. 01/25/11

2nd Show (10:15pm)
10:45 in the same order:
Ask a Cast member and they will tell you when (after) they change.
They do not know this ahead of time, as there are too many variables.

Picnic Box or Wine Country Lunch:
Ordered ahead of the day you get the 1st show Blue or Yellow
Purchased the same day you get the 2nd show Blue or Yellow

Reserved Dining
Early Reservations = 1st Show that day
Later Reservations = 2nd Show that day...

So if I come back later (midmorning), about how long do you wait in the FP line?

Oh, a couple of minutes tops. Since the big grand opening last year, the lines to get FP's has really become much, much shorter. Again, I was there yesterday at 10:00 AM and there was virtually no line - maybe two minutes, and at 12:00 there was no line at all. In fact, the CM in front was shouting at people to come and get a FP, even if they weren't sure they wanted to see the show because they weren't required to use it if they changed their mind. The CM's are good about ushering people through, and they make sure that only one person per party takes all of the tickets from that party to get the FP's. That helps keep the line short as well.

Thanks, Sonnyjane (and everyone else!) I appreciate all information...it makes planning so much easier. I'm looking forward to finally seeing WOC!

For others reading this thread, if you are going in the dead of summer or on a weekend, my responses don't necessarily hold true, but since I know the OP is going on Tuesday, and I just went yesterday, I am not anticipating a dramatic difference.

Butterfly, enjoy the show!:hippie:
