For the WOC lovers out there, please don't bash this question...

I have yet to see WOC and while I have tried watching it on Youtube many times it's just really hard to see clearly. My question is.... is WOC just lights projected on water? Somewhat like Fantasmic? I know many will disagree with me but I have gotten bored during parts of Fantasmic. My favorite part is the end when the characters come around. We are finally planning a trip back at the end of next month with my Dad, and I doubt we'll be able to do the Fireworks, Fantasmic and WOC....If WOC is just the colored water I'm thinking of skipping it. :confused3

Any thoughts?

It is so much more than colored water!! It is very different from Fantasmic! and it does not have characters.

My husband, who is a muggle, absolutely loved it!! After we saw it in person, he would still go out on our VGC balcony every night to watch it. I found it fascinating and beautiful. If you are going to see it, I highly recommend doing one of the dining packages. We have eaten at Ariel's Grotto three times now and really enjoyed it. Haven't tired Wine Country Trattorria so can't help with the food there.

As sierranevada said, it is not just colored water, but lights, fountains, lasers, fire, great sound, and other special effects. It is very different from Fantasmic! It is definitely worth seeing, even if it is a bit of a hassle to get FP's/a good spot. I have seen it three times and am impressed each time. There's always something new to notice.

Thanks. I was hoping to do something a little different this trip and this may jut be it. Is it one of those things where people are getting spots to view it hours before it begins?

With regard to your OP, there is nothing really like WOC in the world. It is a new thing. Sort of like a cross between Las Vegas Bellagio fountains on steroids and the mist screens from Fantasmic (also on steroids) and, well, other things that don't exist - but if they did it would be on steroids too! :goodvibes

To see World of Color you need to plan it right or you may end up with a poor or mediocre viewing spot. People do not camp out hours ahead because the whole thing is a reservation system. The people with reservations do start getting in line as much as 2 hours early.

It is very different from F! in that you need to have a FastPass to view World of Color. Here is the link to the WOC superthread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717&highlight=woc+superthread

You can get free FP's in the morning from the GRR FP machine to see the show in one of three sections, or you can prepay for a picnic or dinner that ensures you get FP's for a slightly better area. The value of paying for the premium area is really debatable, as if you're not at the very front railing, you still will likely have to look over people in front of you. You return to the area of the show at the time printed on your FP. They don't allow you to enter before that, so no, you won't have to line up hours prior, because they won't let you in!

ETA: I think Hydroguy and I posted at the same time :)
