We did not buy a meal or dinner, just grabbed a FP at GRR today, and we got a yellow. Will we be able to get to the fire hydrant area with a yellow. I saw the hydrant today, but what I don't know is if it will be behind the ropes and accessible or not.

Can someone give me some direction on this, please. I also am wondering how early we should head on over to see the show tonight. The show is at 8:30.

Thanks.

The Often talked about firehydrant is in the blue zone.

In Yellow aim for the second tier, behind the box in the plants. Just remember that the key is to be against a rail so nobody is standing in front of you.

There is a little variance on when they let people into Paradise Park. But to be safe 15 minutes before the starting return time on your pass.

Enjoy the show!

RWTY...please check back in and let me know how it goes tonight, as well as how the crowds seemed today. We'll be there next Tuesday night and would like some recent, first hand knowledge of the low season week days. (Also, what time did you get your FP? Are yellows the second-best, or the worst?)

SF - we'll have two little kids with us (DNi 7 and DNe 8). Can little kids even enjoy WOC standing surrounded by a crowd? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

We went thru the hotel entrance to CA around 10:00. The line at that point was probably 100 people deep. It did not take long for us to get thru the line, as they had the crowd well managed. There were CMs by each FP machine that took your park tickets and got your FP for you. We got yellow, but blue is better. If this were my first time to see it, and if position were important to me, I would have a dinner reservation and get the preferred viewing.

We just want to see the show and have an easy exit. We have seen it once before from the viewing area and many times from our room, so position is not as critical to us.

I was hoping for the location near the hydrant, but sounds like it is not to be, since we are yellow.

Crowds today were hard for me to tell. With CA all torn up, the walkways are smaller and everyone is closer together. The longest line was TSMM, but I know that is always the case. DH had about a 5 minute wait for the ferris wheel, and while we were eating lunch at the bar at Ariel's, we could see the line for Screamin' was out to the walkway. We had not wait for Monsters, and the Aladdin show was about 3/4 full with the balcony not even open. Not sure if that helps, but I can judge crowds better at DL than at CA.

100 people deep sounds like alot - does that crowd taper off after a while, or is it just a mob scene until all the FP's are gone? I've thought long and hard about it and I really don't think we'll do a dinner package. The choices are just not that appealing to us (my DNi would NOT be impressed going to Ariel's Grotto and not seeing Princesses!). How exactly is one section better or worse than another? If you got yellow and were in the gates when they opened, I guess blue is pretty much out of the question without a package, yes?

As for the ride line-ups, we definitely need to do TS, Monsters Inc., and Soarin'. The little ones will also probably love the things in Bugs World. Any specifics on how long the waits were? Thanks again, and have a great time tonight!

For kids, and anyone short it's just best to be against a rail at the front of each level in any color zone.

You might want to take a look at the WoC superthread. Lots of great pictures and descriptions of how the show tickets are disributed. But I would skip from page one to the last several pages. In between is a lot of confusion as data was gathered and more experienced posted later in it.

Do you mean the front rail (wet zone?)? Or any rail? I haven't seen the setup in person and while the marked photos of the viewing area are *fantastic* for visualizing the layout, I can't figure out how high the railing areas are and whether young kids would be able to see from there.

I've read through the superthread and am still kinda confused about the best viewing place for short people and young kids (who will NOT be riding on shoulders, no worries!!).

Any rail. Each level is a couple feet above the next. So being six feet back and two up you can see over the heads of the people in the tier in front of you.

As far as which tier is best within a color zone it's a little more of preference. There are some low water effects that are easiest to see from the wet zone or second tier. Some people like the wider view of the show you can get from the higher tiers. There is a lot to the show, so as long as you aren't looking at someone's back you will enjoy watching.

Here's what happened tonight. The show was at 8:30. When I got the FP this morning, the CM said to be there no more than 30 minutes prior to the show. We left the room around 7:45 and followed the crowds around GRR to the show. I noticed that it seems they are getting their act together a little better than when we saw it last October. At least the areas for VIP, Blue Yellow and Red were clearly marked and you knew where to go. Last time, nothing was marked.

The next thing I noticed, the place was already packed. I had noticed from the window in our room that there were people standing at the rail around 7:30, but I didn't think it was people waiting to see the show already, guess I was wrong.

We walked all the way down to the second tier from the front and found some spots at the back of that section. I am only 5' 4" and there were lots of folks taller than I in front of me, but because most everything happens higher up, I was o.k. If it were my first show, I might not have been too happy, but this was fine for tonight.

Something new for me, I don't remember the round disks that rose up 3 or 4 times throughout the show. Is that new since last October?

There was not a strong breeze, but we got really wet. My windbreaker was dripping wet and my DH's hoodie was soaked.

So, I guess the moral of the story is even on a low attendance day, get there about an hour ahead of showtime and stay away from the bottom two tiers if you don't wish to get wet. Best case scenario is to do a meal or picnic and get the blue FP, even in the off season.

That's nice to hear. It sounds like they work periodically.

As far as getting wet. It really depends on the wind. Direction and Speed.

Bummer that the timing didn't work out. While the rails are key, if you think of the viewing as 5 deep, only 1/5 of viewers are along the rail. But if you could see the discs that rise up it sounds like you could see a lot as they are low on the water.

The round video projections that rise up during the show are always part of the show since it debut last summer. They had some problems with them during that time since when I was there in October, the show didn't show the round projections when I watched WoC that month.

Thanks so much RWTY & SF - this has been really helpful as I try to think through how to manage my group. I've got such a giant mental-block about the whole WOC thing...my only point of reference is Illuminations at Epcot, which DID NOT require extensive strategy and tactical consultations!

A better point of reference than Illuminations for WOC is Toy Story Mania at DHS. It is crazy popular and requires extraordinary effort to avoid lengthy lines.

When we attended a World of Color show, it was very confusing in my opinion. We did the dinner package with Ariels grotto. WoC was scheduled at 8:30pm. We approached the WoC CMs early, maybe about 6:30? We had no idea what we were doing, and the CM said to wait by the lighthouse thing, and to sit on the benches there. We walked around a little first, visited the Blue Sky Cellar, and when we returned, there were more people milling about. Then I noticed some people sort of lining up. We headed over to this "line", and after awhile, we found out this was the BLUE line/crowd. We got a little frantic, as there was a CM talking to this group about going in. We ran to another CM and asked for the preferred area, and that CM said it was too soon, but then pointed us way down to the entry for the preferred area. Now the signs were up indicating this, before they were not. We moved to the entry and we WERE allowed in, there were only a few groups in ahead of us, so we got the rail spot. Other preferred groups were still at the lighthouse, I think. This was NOT a busy night, it was May 2. We felt like we only found our way because we were proactive, asking over and over where to wait and what was going on.

I guess there is no way to avoid the confusion, and the long wait. Senior citizens, and young kids, struggled with the long wait and all the standing. (We were fine, 2 healthy adults).

Another (earlier) night I tried to watch WoC with no Fast Pass, and it was pretty much a waste of time. We were super lucky, and we could watch the show from our 6th floor Villa at the Grand Californian..... but seeing it from the preferred standing area, was a whole different experience.

Wonderful show, I wish they could transplant another version to Epcot!

My one last comment on this. When we saw it last October, we were in the preferred dining section and got on the top stair of that section and saw everything just perfect. Being closer this time, some of the images on the front water screen were a little blurry. Being too close to the front is not necessarily a good thing.
