I was thinking of making a reservation for the WOC of picnic and after reading the superthread on WOC, I feel I have a better understanding of all the tips and tricks. In any case, I'm thinking that I might try to watch it from the hydrant and it seems that I need to get a blue pass. From what I read, when you order the WOC Picnic package, it doesn't give you any information on what color FP you'll get. Does anybody have any idea of how they distribute the FP when ordering the Picnic package? Does it still go by when I decide to pick up the meals on the day of the show or is the FP color already designated when I make the order? This is def a cheaper alternative than doing the meal at Ariel's but then I don't have to worry which color FP I'll be getting since it's just simply a Preferred Area pass.

I really want to get a good spot because I have two small kids and I also want to record the show with my camcorder.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

They were doing blue and yellow. I believe yellow is the only option now. So no opportunity for the hydrant which is in blue.

Is that going to make the yellow section super crowded now?! Doesnt seem worth paying the money for the picnic for only one section.

No. The picnic FPs are not handled in a vacuum. When picnic FPs are given out Disney will reduce the number of regular FPs for yellow.

Well if they're only giving FP for the yellow section then it really doesn't do anything for me and I'd be better off getting a "regular" FP in the morning. I guess I just need to wait until I see people starting to get the blue FP before I swipe my AP.

I guess at this point, we may actually reserve a dinner at Ariel's for the show so that we at least get to enter the preferred viewing area.

FWIW OP, yellow, along the water, is my favorite viewing section! A poncho may come in handy there, but I was in the elevated but rear section of preferred, and for my young kids it was not a great view.

Just ask a CM what color they are on, it's very simple to do, if you like it get in line.

I agree. The yellow wet zone is our choice as well with kids. We have staked out this spot in June, 2010 and June 2011 and have not found it to be crowded at all. -- Suzanne

I also am a yellow section fan!

Basically, I would plan the morning around the GRR/PP area of DCA - if you want a particulat color. Then you can stop in and see what FPs are being given out. Last Sept I really wanted to try the red section and I had to come back four times because they were progressing so slowly from blue ot yellow to red for the first show. I rode PP rides and did thinks like the bakery tour to stay in the area.
