WOC: Must see or Just fun if you have time?

So where would be the best place to see it from if I just planned on getting FP? Do you get to choose your section when getting the FP?

what hdyro guy posted, you want to check those out! great tips!!

and no u dont pick ur section

I've seen it from standing right in the front in the dry section of the preferred section and it was awesome. I also saw it standing on the bridge and it was great there too but I would choose in the front if I could see it again.

If you don't mind having a bit of a long evening you can see all the nighttime shows if you can follow the schedule below:

8:00 World of Color (this is the one you can't control unless you pre-order a picnic or dinner package)

Then head immediately to the Disneyland gates so you get to Main Street for

8:45 Remember Dreams Come True
(You'll most likely be at the second rope line down Main Street if the last couple of weekends are any indication)

At this point you can either try for F! straight away (9:05) or go with the safer play if you can stay until ~10:45:
Head through Tomorrowland to It's A Small World, you've got about 30 minutes to do this for:

9:30 - The Magic, The Memories, And The You
It's a fun show and it's short with an extra little bonus at the end. Consider it like an amuse-bouche in this meal of Disney. It's about 11 minutes long.

That gives just enough of a time for the 9:05 showing of F! to clear so you can go to Rivers of America for:

10:15 - Fantasmic!

And you've completed the Disney Circuit. I've done this twice now, once starting from WoC Red and the other from Blue. From Red it's a tight time to Main St, Blue is noticeably easier. You can stay until the fountains go off fully after the post show and not have issues.

Once you get past the fireworks it's all easy from there because a large part of the crowd from Main Street heads for F! and (at least so far) very few people head for TMTMAY's 2nd showing (On Saturday I counted 34 people in the show's prime viewing area).

It's 2km total walking (just under a mile) and it'll work as long as they keep 20 minutes between shows and TMTMAY's 2nd show remains so deserted.

Good luck and enjoy the parks!

WOC was under construction on our last trip. We'll be there next month. I have heard kids will have a poor time seeing WOC unless we get there an hour before show and wait in line for a front spot. I'd love to see WOC but fear the spring break crowds and having to wait in a long line to get a spot good enough for the kids to see. On a busy day will 30 minutes get a decent view or is it gonna be an hour + or the kids stare at peoples butts?

WOC has been a busy area every night Spring Break, low season, last summer, this coming summer, or whatever. So do not connect other park crowds with WOC. It is always busy at WOC.

If you have kids it is worth it to show up at least 60 minutes early - maybe 90 minutes - to get a good viewing spot for them. The fire hydrant spot can often be obtained with under 30 minutes. But I think kids will enjoy it more if you get a closer spot. The red section wet zone is not that hard to get. You might get a rail spot there 60 minutes in advance because so many people avoid the wet zone or just do not see it. I would take the red wet zone over the fire hydrant spot - but they are both good.

You can get really lucky too. When dh went to save spots, I tried to explain about being at a railing but he didn't get it. So we ended up behind people. I did move us forward when I got there (dh was sitting in the back by the roped path, he didn't hear me when I told him that you had to stand the whole time). Anyways, the group in front of us asked if our boys wanted to go stand in front of them at the rail. It worked out great. The boys got a great view and the adults there could easily see over them. Plus those adults were short enough we could see over pretty well. Then the show broke down halfway through and we had to wait, and they left, so we did get the railing for the 2nd half.

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]If you get near a railing for WOC then your golden! It's the best spot in the area! And hydro is right, WOC is busy no matter the day.I been almost every weekend and during the week also sometimes since WOC started-not to see it-but yes it's amazing how well WOC is doing!! so many people everynight! And oh friday's..wow, it's funny as soon as WOC the 8pm show let's out, Guess where everyone goes? Nope not DL, electronica! So the park attendance at DCA has surely picked up. but on the other hand, like everyone has said and i am sure you read Huff, get a FP for WOC! you won't wait for more then 20 min in the line to get into your section, they tell you to line up between x time and y time on the FP ticket.

I saw it for the first time last month and now I can't imagine going to DL without seeing WOC and F!. I liked F! better but not by a lot.

Looks like I am in the majority in stating that WOC is a must. I saw it for the first time last weekend and I can't wait until my next I can see it. Enjoy your trip.

I'm confused! So many people say I need to get in line 30-90 minutes before show to get a decent spot and getting the FP earlier in the day is required to get in at all.

yes if you get an fp, you need to get one early in the day for the good sections...i didn't care about where i stood, i just new what section i had adn i got in line 10 min before they let us into our section, so i was at the back of the line big deal.. but that was a while ago..

now WOC has been out for a few months so most of the world has seen it, so the time that you spend in line waiting for your section is maybe less then 30 minutes, maybe more maybe less, i been seeing people get into their sections in less then 25 min!.. yes you should get in line when your FP says to, it will say on your FP ticket when you need to line up. that is what i meant, i probably didn't explain it right sorry. 90 min i think is extreme, i think that was when it first opened, but it's been out for months now...

As Sara said, there are two lines:

1. Line to get a FP (if you go that route). FP is a misnomer as it is not fast at all. It is just a reservation. You do this in the morning and last summer the line to get a FP was really long but now seems to have died down.

2. Line to get into the show in the evening. That is the 30-90 minutes.

Read the WOC SuperThread link in my signature line as it explains this.

Going through two different lines to get into a show that features old movie clips projected onto water ... gee, is that category one or two ...

I hear ya. The Little Mermaid ride at DCA will merely feature old recycled characters from a 20 year old movie based on a book much older. For some reason the lines will be insanely long but everyone should probably just skip it... :rolleyes1

And Mickey Mouse is more than 80 years old; It's really time they find a fresher face for Disney ;)

Perlster, yes, it is a pain. I wish the line-up system was different, but unfortunately this is how it is right now. They aren't just "clips projected onto water", the images are from past movies, yes, but they completely immerse you in the action. The sound is great (I totally lose it once I hear the bass start from Under the Sea). The sheer number of fountains they have takes you by surprise, and they merely use the clips as a starting point, but they take them so much further by adding lots of special effects. In other words, they are hardly just projecting old clips onto a watery screen. It is so, so much more!
