WOC FPs and the GCH Special Entrance - How Does it Work?

I have not read any posts yet on anyone using the GCH special entrance to get WOC FPs.

o Are they letting GCH guests use it for this purpose?

o What about DLH and PPH guests?

o What time are they opening the entrance for FP collection?

o Do you get let in earlier than other guests using the main entrance?

There was a photo posted, on another site, of a sign that was at the GC private entrance on 6-11 that said entry into DCA for WoC fast passes must be done through the main entrance. I don't recall what site this was on and don't know if the sign was used only for the first days showings or if it is going to be there for awhile or forever. I'd call my DLR hotel and ask if the private entrance is available for early entry to obtain fast passes for WoC. In the past the private entrance has been for the use of guests at all three Disney hotels not just GC.

Are you referring to the sign in the following photo?

Right above that photo, the Dateline Disneyland article says:

"The Grand Californian Hotel guest entrance is open only to Hotel guests, and signage indicates the rule is being strictly enforced."

HG, I was just thinking these same questions!

We are staying at the GCH in August, and I was hoping to use that special entrance!

I'm looking forward to more positive answers!

Nope - for WOC pass distribution you had to go to the main entrance. I could see that this might change as they get a better feel for the demand. I was quite suprised by this but I was also suprised that they walked people in for the fast passes well before park opening.

They also were enforcing the DL hotel guest rule during all normal park hours at the GC gate.

I spoke to a couple (I did dining so I didn't bother lining up once I saw we couldn't enter thru the GC gate) who arrived at DL at 7:15. They were led into the park shortly after 8 and they began immediatly distributing passes then. DCA officially opened at 10am. The GC gate wasn't open for entry at that time.

Good to hear they have started doing this. As I mentioned - it surprised me that they weren't allowing it. I really thought it was a poor decision and thought it would get changed. Really - so much was poorly done on the first day and I was hoping they would search out or listen to feedback. Sounds like they have on this anyway.

The reports seem to be positive.

In this week's MP Weekly Update, cbond2112 was staying in the PPH, and she reported that she was able to enter the GCH entrance at 9:30am and she got WOC FastPasses in 10 minutes.

"We were there on June 11. I had heard that since it was opening night is was going to be tough to get a Fastpass ticket but my daughter really wanted to go (we could see the fountains from our room at the Paradise so she had a teaser - and just so you know you can also HEAR the show from the Paradise) so I said we would try. We had a character breakfast that a.m. and people were allowed to line up at the Esplanade at 7:00 a.m. so I wasn't holding my breath. To my surprise when we were allowed entry through the Grand Entrance - which is right by the [WOC] fastpass machines - at 9:30, I was in the Fastpass lane and out of the Fastpass booth within 10 minutes." - cbond2112

And Al Lutz (link) mentioned that the Disney hotel guests were allowed into the GCH entrance about 40 minutes before DCA's main entrance gates opened.

By Monday morning, they were letting the hotel guests in through the Grand Californian gate to grab Fastpasses about 40 minutes before the main entrance gates opened for the morning, ensuring that any Disney hotel guest that wanted one could get a World of Color Fastpass." - Al Lutz
