I am planning on making reservations for this soon, are there 2 restaurants available? which is better? Also I understand you get preferred viewing, can you see it during dinner or do you leave to an area to watch?? Thanks!!!

(I know there is a super thread but it is too super for me to read through for this specific dining Q ;) )

Your options are Wine Country Tratorria or Carthay Circle. CC would be the better choice in my opinion. Check out the menus of each on the dining tab to see which appeals more to you.
The show cannot be viewed at either restaurant. You have to go to a separate viewing area. Check out the WOC superthread for more info...

LOL, don't read the whole thread. Just the first post then of you want any recent posts.

Just remember, it doesn't give you reserved seats, just access to the center "green" section. You still need to arrive early enough to get the place you want because you're competing with the rest of the diners who have passes for that section too.

If you want to eat and see the show at the same place, your only option is the Cove Bar that recently re-opened.

I believe they charge a 10$ cover per person.

Cove Bar does not offer a good view of the show - certainly nothing comparable to being in preferred dining. You only see the lights and the side/back of some projections. It's certainly not ideal and not the option I'd recommend for someone seeing the show for the first time.

On my most recent trip to DCA, I ate dinner at Wine Country Tratorria just to get the WoC Preferred Viewing FastPass. We ate at 7:40pm and finished at 9pm. We returned to an area adjacent to the Wine Country Tratorria at 9:45pm and found a CM with a flag and a line of about 15 people. At around 10pm the CM escorted us from Wine Country Tratorria to the Front Rail Elevated section (red) as seen in the picture below (I'm borrowing this picture from HydroGuy, hopefully that isn't against the rules, but if it is please let me know):

I was wondering if I eat at Carthay Circle, will I get access to the same area, Front Rail Elevated (red)? Or does the Carthay Circle Preferred Viewing FastPass get you into another area?
