WL woods view vs. CR standard view

I am planning a trip for Oct. 2006 and I am stuck between a WL woods view and CR standard room. The rack rate is pretty equal, so now I am looking at the other things about each resort. I will give some info about our trip party if that will help you give me an opinion.

The party will include myself, DW, and DS 2. This will be our sons first trip and will fall during his 2nd birthday. We will not have a car so we will be relying on Disney transportation. We will hit all parks, but most of our time will be spent at the MK.

All opinions will be greatly appreciated and if you need more info, let me know.

Do the CR. The rooms will be remodeled by then. My only complaint was that the decor was "tired" so that will be no problem for you. The monorail is so convenient for the MK, Epcot, plus meals at the GF and Poly. It's also only a 5 min. walk to the MK.

As for the standard view, at any other place it would be the premium view...on the bay side you see the pool, the lake, the beach, boats on the water, the sunrise, and the Electric Water Pageant. No castle, but it's still terrific.

We don't care much what view we have from the room. We're just not ever able to just sit in the room and look at things, when we could be out there enjoying it. For that reason, and for the reason that CR just doesn't appeal to us at all, I would take any WL view room over any CR view room any day of the week. WL is a wonderfully themed resort with a nice pool, and boats to MK. We love this place. CR just looks tired to us, no offense to anyone. I will say it would be nice to be able to walk to MK from CR. No other resort can claim that. But I still would stay in WL in a heartbeat compared to CR.

Another vote for CR. The standard view is in the wings facing the parking lot, but some of those rooms actually do have a view of the castle. I would recommend a ground floor room in the North Wing. The ground floor rooms have a patio and you don't have to worry about an elevator. It's about a quick walk to MK and it's close to the CR food court and arcade.

Yikes, that's a tough decision. We've stayed at WL with a woods view room and loved it, absolutely loved it. The resort is beautiful, the pool is fun. You can boat right over to MK, which is handy with a stroller as you can just roll it right on the boat.

With a 2 yr old in tow, I guess I'd lean more towards CR for a few reasons:
1) the walk back and forth to MK really is wonderful with a stroller and little one(s).
2) the monorail is convenient -- perfect for little ones and strollers.
3) Chef Mickey's at CR is fun for the little ones. When we stayed at CR, we just walked down to Chef M's to see if there was availability whenever we felt the urge, and we always got right in.

Any other questions, just ask away. We have 2 yr old twins and have stayed inside WDW 4x so far with them. We truly have found the monorail resorts to be the most convenient if we are planning on going to MK the most often.

Here's another WL vote. I have never stayed at CR, IMO, it's overrated and overpriced, but I have visited for pin trading nights etc. I'm a WL fan, and I think it's much better for the price.

I would go with CR, but only in a rehabbed room. I read somewhere that the rehab won't be completed until 2007, so not sure whether all the wings will be done by 10/2006. Don't get me wrong, I love the WL...but I think it is in need of a rehab as well. Also, the rooms are much bigger at CR than WL.

We just got back from the CR in june. And the view from there for the fireworks can't be beat! We were on the 12th floor. Also we were traveling with our 2 year old and it was so nice to be able to get on the monorail and not have to fold up the stroller!!! We went to WL just to check things out, and it is nice but what a pain having to get that sroller folded up to get on and off that boat, and out son kept wanting to hang over the side!

I don't think you have to fold up the stroller for the WL boat, but I could be wrong. I will say that when we visited WL for dinner, it was a little difficult maneuvering our stroller around the resort. It's very hilly and lots of twists and turns. In some places the sidewalk is a little on the bumpy side.

No, you don't have to fold the stroller up. There is a section near the back of the boat that's extra wide to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. Also, WL boats have no drop off from the boat to the dock. The lack of drop eases wheel transport as well. I believe they also usually put down a ramp of sorts to cover the gap between the boat and the dock.

The smaller boats that GF and Poly use both have drop offs making it very difficult to leave strollers unfolded. Also these boats are much smaller and don't have all the extra space for unfolded strollers the WL boats have.

We are traveling to the World in September, with DS who is 7, and DD who will also turn 2 on our trip. We are staying at the CR tower. I'm kind of nervous because of all the rehab talk, but you'll be there after all the rehab is done. CR all the way!

When we went from CR to WL we took one of the smaller boats and the driver said the strollers had to be folded, there were three of us with stollers and you had to step down to get into the boat and it was difficult.

Another vote for WL Woods view. WE had a woods view but was given a courtyard view. The woods view had a view of the otter pond and we would have been able to somewhat see Wishes from our balcony! We absolutely love the WL!!!

We will be staying at WL for our third time this fall. On the first trip, my children were DD3 & DS2, then 3 & 4. We always had two strollers and never had to fold them. We actually think this resort is very easy with small children.
