We are leaving in 7 days for our trip to WDW :cool1: !!! We are staying in the WL woods view room and I have a few questions.

First, my husband has asthema, so I want to be sure we are not in a former smoking room. Can anyone tell me where those rooms used to be?

Second, I would love a view of the monorail/castle, if possible, as my son loves trains and also because the kids are little, we may not make at the parks until wishes, so if we could see fireworks from our room that would be great!

I requested a room that has not been smoked in as well as a room on an upper floor. Does anyone have any specific room numbers that they could suggest? I thought I would call a few days before we are scheduled to arrive to verbally confirm our requests. If anyone had a specific room number, then I might ask for that room specifically at that time. Do you recommend doing this or not?

Thanks everyone, this board is always so helpful! :)

I think that the 6th floor used to be smoking. I would request the 5th floor on the north side of WL. We requested the 5th floor on the north side, but we were given the 3rd floor on the north side. We could still see the fireworks through the trees, but an upper floor would be better. (We have small children and were usually back in the room by the time that the fireworks started - and this was in January when the fireworks were at 8 pm - so it was nice to see from the balcony.)

Just call and make sure that it is on your reservations, and then ask again when you check in if your requests were noted and if they can accommodate them. Sometimes they can (although the request for a room that hasn't been smoked in for medical reasons should definitely be accommodated), and sometimes they can't. Either way, it is a beautiful resort!

I think the previous smoking rooms were all on the south side, so if you're requesting north side, you should be OK. I've always requested non-smoking and I've only been on the south side once (it was a no smoking room as well though - right off the lobby). I seem to remember someone saying that the south side 3rd and 5th floors were the smoking floors, because I felt really sorry for the people on the 4th floor who were stuck in the middle. I haven't read of any complaints since the changeover though, so they must have done a good job at cleaning the smoking rooms.
