WL vs CSR?

For goodness sake, why can't I make a decision?! We started out thinking of spending a week at the Poly but the discounts are just not deep enough this time. Then decided to return to WL which we enjoyed the one time we stayed there. Now I am looking at photos and reviews of Coronado Springs and the approximately $500 difference. We have never stayed there. For this vacation I need a resort that I will be happy to just hang out there more than going park commando daily. I think my hang up is that CSR seems quite large? We have stayed at CBR and that is just too large for me. How does CSR compare?

Thanks anyone for any input!

We just stayed at CSR last month and really like it. However I have stayed at CBR and feel they are both spread out. The plus to CBR is you can stay at locations that are close to the pool and dining. At CSR unless you are at the Cabanas and at the front of them, you will be walking.

We were not worried about being by the main pool and had a wonderful location really close to the lobby. One day we did walk over to the main pool and it was a walk.

Check out the map, check out where the main features are and decide for yourself what is most important to be by. We have always had good luck changing rooms if we were unhappy with our location.

once you're at CSR it doesn't seem nearly as large as they say. i've stayed at CBR and THAT is spread out, lol. CSR is awesome, newly refurbished and soooooo pretty!! we stayed in casitas 4 a couple weeks ago and just loved it!! there's lots of kids activites by the pool... like a whole playground area... and a huge hot tub!! use your spending money elsewhere!!

However, beginning January 1, you can pay for a preferred room at the CSR just as you can at the CBR.

I would go with the Wilderness Lodge because in my opinion they have a much better theme, atmosphere, overall location, more transportation options, bigger rooms and all their rooms are located in one main building. The one time I went to visit Coronado Springs I thought it was spread out way to much.

CSR is a beautiful resort. We stayed in Casitas and didn't feel like we had a terribly long walk to anything or that the resort was too "spread out," which many people say. Transportation there is excellent, too, if you plan on using Disney transportation. We never waited too long and never had to stand. We were at EPCOT, DHS, and AK really quicky, too.

The main pool is incredible, as well, with one of the biggest hot tubs on property. I could spend most of my vacation just there, I think. We also used the fitness center/spa and got massages. :cloud9:

While I would love to stay at the Contemporary someday (almost did this time), I can't justify the extra expense. But that's personal preference, too.

Before buying DVC, we stayed at all of the moderate resorts. CSR was our least favorite. It was such a long way from our room to the pool. We also weren't that impressed with the Pepper Market. We own at VWL, so we are biased, but I would pick WL over CSR anyday.

We have never stayed at CBR so I can not help with that comparison, but we have stayed at both CSR and WL. We liked both of them. CSR is big, but I really did not think it was an issue. We were close to the main pool and the main building was less than a 10 min walk away. Bus stops are all around the resort so that is not an issue. We like the pool at CSR better. It is bigger, less crowded, had a better slide and more chairs. Love having a balcony at WL and think the counter service restaurant is better. WL also has a boat to MK or the Contemporary. Both were very pretty and relaxing, just different. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, you just need to decide which one will best fit your needs for this trip. Good luck and have a great time!

We've stayed all over CSR and have loved every location.
If I had to make the decision, this would be my issue-heat:

hot weather- CSR is great but there would be more walking and the Florida heat is brutal, so I'd go with WL.
Any other time of year, except for Christmas, I'd choose CSR. WL at Christmas time is absolutely wonderful.

Lately I've been wanting to keep my money!

You will have a great time at CSR if you like to keep your money, too!

Yes, the resort is spread out. That is the appeal to me. On the commando park days, you only have a few steps from each bus stop to your room. On the luxurious relaxation resort days, who cares if you have to stroll through lush landscaping for a few minutes to reach lunch or the main pool. If you do not feel like the stroll, you have a quiet pool (probably to yourself) very near your room and room service to bring you food! What is bad about that?;)

I have stayed at WL, and yes it is pretty! I just don't think that the stay you will have will be $500 better...IMO!!

Either way, you will enjoy your resort choice!
