Going down the 3rd week of December. Currently booked at the WL in a woods view. Our daughter will be 7 months old by the time we go down. Which resort would you recommend? Is the $128 extra worth it for the CR? Have been reading about the rooms at the WL being paperthin and alot of noice in the rooms. Can anyone thats stayed there tell me if there room was noisy?

The rooms in WL are small for a delux. I would think that CR would be much better for you because of the mono-rail. No need to wait outside for the transportation back and forth from MK and hotel. When I stayed at WL the room was not noisy but it was small. I must say that I am surprised that the price of CR is $128 more per night.

Sorry its $128 difference over the 4 night total. WL $135/ night (woods view) including tax vs $167 CR for standard room.

In terms of atmosphere during Christamas you can't go wrong with WL. IMO it's the most beautiful of resorts that time of year. There is a definite difference in the feel of both resorts.

The CR has more energy, more excitement, and you feel more in the middle of things. Although, the garden rooms can be quite peaceful, especially if you get a ground floor facing the lake. Plus being on the monerail is really convenient. The CR also has large spacious rooms. And if you get a tower room with a MK view it can be really magical.

The WL has rooms that are much smaller. But, it has a gorgeous lobby thats great to just sit and relax. The atmosphere is cozy and more intimate than CR.

We stayed in the WL Dec 1999 and had a wonderful time. I am the lightest sleeper in the world but I didn't notice one sound from any other rooms, or the hallway. I don't know if we had any people in the rooms next to us, so it's hard to say how soundproof they are for sure.

So good luck making a decision. Either way you can't go wrong

if you LOVE the lodge theme and are willing to spend more time traveling to get around, then go for the WL.

Myself, I opt for the CR for ease of transportation. Not that I wouldn't stay at the WL again, just prefer the quick transportation at the CR.

Oh, and something else others may not think to mention, we stayed at WL and I was a nervous wreck with my small daughter around the furniture, which has HUGE posts that stick up/out from the beds. Even as an adult with balance problems I was terrified I was going to smack my head on something.

With a small baby, esp. one who may be scooting around, the decor of the room is more baby friendly at the CR than the WL.

For a difference of 128 over the week, I say go for the CR. Then visit WL to look at all the pretty decorations.

If your going to WDW at Christmas there are only twp Resorts to stay at (IMO) The Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge....If you posted a thread asking..."Which resort should I stay at during Christmas?" these two resorts would win hands down.

The rooms are smaller at WL then CR but I have never felt cramped while stay in one of the Lodges rooms and I'm a DVC Member and stay in the 2-Bedroom Villas for most trips. The ambience of the Lodge is so intimate and cozy even more so at Christmas time with the beautiful Christmas decorations plus the Lodge is less expencive.

Have been reading about the rooms at the WL being paperthin and alot of noice in the rooms. Can anyone thats stayed there tell me if there room was noisy? While anyone can have noisy neighbors I have never had a problem with noise in many stays at Wilderness Lodge...Yes sometime you might hear a child that is loud out in the hallway, (DISNEY EXCITEMENT) but I have had this happen at every resort I have ever stayed in Disney or not. As a parent you know sometimes childern just get loud. :p

The WL doesn't have paper thin walls...It is a very solidly built resort. Not modular...Rooms for Disney's Contemporary Resort were built off-site and then slid into place as the resort was being built.

Which ever resort you decide on, you will have a MAGICAL TRIP.

We stayed at the WL over Thanksgiving for five nights. It was all decorated for Christmas when we arrived. It was ...breathtaking...but that doesn't begin to describe it. How many people are going? We had three and the room was plenty big enough. Housekeeping and turndown were wonderful. We had towel animals daily (with a turkey for Thanskgiving). The lobby was beautiful with all of the decorations and the restaurants were fanastic and kid-friendly. The boat to MK was very relaxing and took just a few minutes (we never had to wait long for one either). We took a bus to AK-it only shared with the GF and was very quick -we were dropped off and picked up first.

I have never stayed at the CR, but have visited thee. On this particularr trip, passing by on the boat just coming from the gorgeous WL, the CR was ...plain old ugly. The garden wings just looked like buildings and the paint was discolored and old looking.
We then took the boat to the CR for Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's. The pool area had a nice "concrete" theme going on and the bar was a plain rectangular concrete building. The inside of the resort looks like an airport -inside, narrow escalators ... the front desk had a big pink wall behind it with one large wreath-okay.... Chef Mickey's was wonderful, but I was happy that we were staying at the WL-it was just magnificent. I may be tempted to stay at the CR one day-tower room only, but the pool just does nothing for me .....end of rant

I just wanted to add, I would pay more for the WL-in fact, I did, since I paid rack rate while I was there ($254 a night) and it was worth every penny!
