hi all -- we are going for our first trip in late nov. we are a family of 4 -- me, hubby, son almost 4, and 7 month old. we are traveling with another family. we will be there 6 days but have decided to stay at a deluxe due to the fact that we will not be going to a park everyday due to the young ages of the kids. so we want a "fun" resort. we also want a resort that is convinent and has food that the kids will actually eat. thats why we ruled out AK -- to far away and i don't think any of us would enjoy the food. my hubby is pushing for WL -- loves the themeing, i think the convience of CONT is the way to go -- any opinoins -- thanks a million!! (sorry so long)

It will depend on your plans. Most, if not all, of the kids menus have items that kids will eat. Click here to see the menus and decide.

I have not stayed at the Contemporary so I can't say what it is like. I have stayed at the WL and enjoyed it and that is where we are planning on staying when we go this year for our first trip with kids DS7, DS5, DD2.

I hear there is construction going on around CR and you may want to take that into account as well. WL is further from Magic Kindom but still only a boat or bus ride away while CR provides Monorail access.

I would suggest reading up on the resorts using the above link and make a sample itinerary asto where you want to go and when then decide on the right resort.

I hope this was somewhat helpful. :confused3

Having stayed at both, my vote is for CR!!! As you can see, it is our fav!! Yes, the theming at WL is wonderful. However, for us, CR is well worth the extra money for so many reasons. The convenience of the monorail is HUGE!!! To be able to see the Castle and Wishes from your resort is amazing!! The rooms are considerably larger. We just love it there!! Did I mention Chef Mickeys??

My family has stayed at both resorts numerous times. It really is hard to choose one over the other! I'll try to give the main advantages of each.

Contemporary: monorail access, walkway to MK (maybe more convenient w/ a stroller), and chef mickey's hosts great character meals :goodvibes

WL: a lot more "themed"....I also think the pool is more fun than the contemporary, what with the waterfalls and waterslide and everything. There's also the geyser that goes off during the day, which is a lot of fun for kids to watch. Plus WL has a small beach and playground, along with bike and boat rentals.

However, both resorts are only a quick boat ride away from the MK, they both have equal amenities as far as pool and gift shops and food courts, and they both have boat rentals.

But since you're choosing a resort based on the fact you'll be spending less time in the parks, my vote would have to go to Wilderness Lodge. I just feel like that'd be a much better choice for a resort to spend a lot of time at relaxing. However, Contemporary would be my choice for a park-oriented vacation, considering the convenience of transportation. :thumbsup2

FWIW, we were debating between these two hotels after we ruled out the Poly. We chose WL for the theming and it just looks like it will be so gorgeous! Plus, you can also reserve a room there with bunk beds and we think my dd will go  ! This will be our second trip. Yes, there is some MAJOR construction at the Contemporary -- we saw it on our last trip. I also didn't want to see the parking lot with an MK view. Also, my DH has hardly any desire to stay there -- so it's WL for us!

Oh, and if you haven't seen, there is a boat that takes you back and forth between these two resorts so having dinner at either resort should be quite "doable" regardless of the one you pick. I know we'll definitely be taking the boat to eat at CM!!

We really loved the CR as you can read in my TR. With the young kids the monorail access is great to have. You can head over to the Poly or the GF if you want to check them out during your non-park days.

We have stayed at both resorts. The only positives we found at the CR were the magic kingdom view and the monorail. We were very disappointed in the CR itself.:confused3

We love the WL.:thumbsup2 The resort is such a family :wizard: atmosphere. It has a great lobby, kids will love the bridge and geyser, the pool is wonderful and there are plenty of bunnies roaming around. We love taking the boat to the MK it is so relaxing. You will only be a boat ride away from Chef Mickeys if you decide to go there. Whispering Canyon is a fun place for breakfast or dinner. Territory Lounge is a nice place for an adult beverage! (you can always take an adult beverage and sit in the lobby too!;) )

Hope you choose WL, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

In your case I would choose CR. It is within walking distance to MK which is where you will probably be spending most of your time. Great for naps during the day. The pool is plain but your DS is only 4 so he will love any pool. Also, Chef Mickey's is located there and your son would probably love that too. Good luck planning!
