Here's what I can think of off the top of my head, although of course pros and cons vary between people.
WL Pros:
-Close to the Magic Kingdom, with boat service to it
-Lots of great dining options
-Close to Ft Wilderness if you are interested in checking out some outdoor activities like horseback riding or archery (pending covid openings)
-Nice pool
-If fireworks ever come back I've heard of people say they could see some of the higher fireworks from the dock or from some of the higher floors that face MK.
-Most of WL is in one building, except for some of the DVC rooms
WL Cons:
-This is just my opinion, but I've never been a huge fan of the theme. The lobby just feels dark and musty. I think it might be cozy on a cold and rainy day, but on a nice summer day in Sept I would prefer being in a place with more windows. That being said, it does feel sort of isolated from the rest of WDW which is nice sometimes.
-While it's close to MK and even sort of Epcot, it can be a long trip to Animal Kingdom*
AKL Pros:
-Of course, the animals! Even if you don't do a savannah room there is a really cool overlook into the savannah
-I really like how each of the AKL resorts are all in one building. It just makes it so much easier to go from place to place inside the resort, and it's great on rainy days
-Close to Animal Kingdom
-Also has good dining options (I've always wanted to try Sanaa, I've heard great things about it)
AKL Cons:
-Far from the other parks*
-It's the only deluxe resort that doesn't have an additional transportation options. All the other deluxes have monorails, boats, or now Skyliners. Even now some of the moderates and values have Skyliner access or boats to Disney Springs.
-Kidani is smaller than Jambo House, and while it has Sanaa and a pool, Jambo has the better pool and Mara (the quick service). You can walk or take a bus over but it's not as nice as it being "right there"
-Since AKL is so far from everything and doesn't have that alt transportation, it really does feel pretty isolated sometimes.
-The pools are nice, but I don't think they rank super high compared to other WDW pools, especially the deluxe ones. But if you don't plan to spend much time around the resort this may not be relevant.
*Unfortunately, WDW is so spread out that there isn't really any resort that is super central to everything (maybe Caribbean Beach)? If you're really close to one park, it usually means you're also really far from another.
