We will be at Wilderness Lodge from Nov 27 until Dec 4 and have a woods view. We just realized that an upgrade to a courtyard view is only about $100more for the week.
We would do it in a heartbeat if the rooms are better views than the woods. We live in the NorthEast and are used to seeing woods so the view won't be anything special to us, we just didn't want a parking lot view. I would love to get the view of the geyser and pool.

Are there any pros to staying with the woods view. Any cons to the courtyard view.

And if we decide to upgrade, I was thinking of waiting until we checked in and asking how much an upgrade to the courtyard would be because I've heard that sometimes they will upgrade your for free. I know that the percentage is small but its worth a try since we know we will upgrade no matter what. But I'm just worried they may not have any courtyard rooms left by check in.

HELP!!!!!

Personally, I would rather have a woods view in the north wing on a high floor. You get a great view of Cinderella castle. It's beautiful. :goodvibes

W/ the woods view, you have a chance of seeing the MK fireworks. Also, the view is probably more "peaceful" & woodsy.

However, we LOVE the inner courtyard view! I love the view of both the courtyard pool & Bay Lake. I like sitting on my balcony & hearing the falls, watching the pool activity, & seeing the boats coming & going on Bay Lake. Plus, there's a view of the Electric Boat Parade at night - although depending on your woods view, you might see this from your woodsview balcony as well.

I feel more "in the action" w/ the inner courtyard view.

(We've also sometimes walked out onto the dock to watch the MK fireworks.)

Thank you. I think we would rather " be in the action" with the courtyard view. Do you think they will be sold out if we wait to upgrade when we get there?

Did you book with a discount or package? If so, you may not be able to get the same upgrade for $100 at check in, because that discount booking period has long since ended. You may be looking at rack rate for the upgrade amount. This happened to us twice, we asked about paying for an upgrade at check-in & was quoted rack rate for the switch, not the "discount" amount of the upgrade under our promo code.

You can always ask at check in, but comp upgrades at the front desk are far & few between, and would be done mostly because of inventory concerns, not because of pixie dust. Most upgrades are done prior to your arrival by the room assigner (again usually for inventory reasons).

Good luck & enjoy WL no matter where your room is!

I would upgrade now and not wait. And I've heard if you ask for an upgrade when you arrive you'll be quoted rack rate. No discount. If its only $100 difference I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yes.we.have a package and had a pin code that we booked with at first.but have since changed it to free dining since it saves us $200. You guys talked me into it. I think we will upgrade this week. Ugh I can't wait for our vacay!!

FD may not be available in a courtyard view. If they are booked already could be a possiblity also...Most of the time FD is for std or woods views at WL. Im not real up on what the current FD offers are....Seemed in the past it was mostly about filling certain rooms. Once certain number rooms at that resort were filled then no more FD even if there are non reserved rooms left...

better book it now if possible. Also request courtyard but not WLV courtyard view. Much more out of the loop and nothing to see but the villas pool. Think they are considered inner and outer courtyard views.

We booked courtyard for our next trip. always had woods view before.

also be warned everyone that std views at WL are not the best(park lots, service areas=the worst, power transformers etc)..... also some woods views are much better than others. high floors in north building is the best i think for woods view.

Thanks for the help. I have to look into the FD options. I don't mind if it's woods view but the courtyard would be much better imho.

Keep in mind that a view of the inner courtyard/pool is not a guarantee as "courtyard view" can also mean a view of the villas courtyard. If you do upgrade, put in a request for "inner courtyard/pool view". It's not guaranteed, but Disney will do everything they can to accommodate you ;).

More peaceful for sure; on one of our early visits to WL we were “upgraded” from a woods view to a courtyard view. In some ways it was really nice because we were at the end of the south wing on the fifth floor with an excellent view of bay lake and the geyser. On the other hand, the pool stays open (not sure of the hours) very late and the noise was constant. Seriously, people hooping and screaming well after midnight. Not good if you like to get up early and be at the parks for rope drop.

Very true too, so IMHO your better off with the woods view...:thumbsup2
