WL to Epcot

What's the best way to get to Epcot from WL? Looks like all the sites I've checked out today say to drive (we will have a car) but I thought when I first booked a few months ago that I saw sites that recommended taking a boat to CR and then hopping on the monorail. Did I just dream that?

Easiest and fastest way via Disney transportation is a bus - direct from WL to Epcot. If you prefer boat and monorial that is an option but you would have to wait for a boat, walk from the launch to the monorial platform and then take the monorial all the way around to MK. (CR is the first stop on the loop after MK). You could also boat from WL and then walk to MK from the CR.

Fastest way by far from WL to EPCOT is your own car. That trip takes about 5-10 minutes. Second fastest would be a bus, which has, at most, one stop at another resort before heading to EPCOT. I'd budget about 20 minutes for that, including wait time for the bus. The only negative of driving versus riding the bus is the likelihood of having to ride the parking lot tram to the gate.

All the other permutations involving getting a boat to somewhere and then transferring to other forms of transportation multiply the travel times by 2 or 3 times. You'll wish you hadn't, unless those other stops (such as MK) were places you wanted to go anyway.

The boat/monorail would be the slowest I think. First walk to the boat dock and maybe wait for a boat. Then get off at the CR and walk into and up to the monorail station and maybe wait for a monorail. Then you'd have to change monorails at the TTC to the Epcot monorail. Can be done, but...........

Then board the monorail and switch at the TTC.....nice long ride to EPCOT.....we're in no hurry....EPCOT's not going anywhere so what's the hurry.....we like trying different modes of transportation (we never rent a car) and we can take the monorail one way and the bus back or vice versa....change it up, try it all and have fun....

We do the boat to CR alot....Then board the monorail and switch at the TTC.....nice long ride to EPCOT.....we're in no hurry....EPCOT's not going anywhere so what's the hurry.....we like trying different modes of transportation (we never rent a car) and we can take the monorail one way and the bus back or vice versa....change it up, try it all and have fun....

It's not always about getting from one point to another in the shortest time. The boat ride, the walk through the CR, the monorail along World Dr., the aerial tour of FW --- they're all part of the Disney experience.
