My husband and I will be staying at WL during our trip in the beginning of September. We actually had breakfast there one time during our honeymoon nearly 7 years ago, and decided to stay there for our next trip because it was so beautiful.

Does anyone have any advice, tips, or just useful information about WL? What was your favorite thing? Does anyone recommend renting boats? I remember years ago my family and I rented these little speed boats from the Polynesian--we each got our own boat and it was so much fun. Do they have that at WL? We want to experience the all the resort has to offer, not just the rides in the parks.

Thanks for your input!

Hey Laura!!

We all love the WL over on the WL FAQ
Head over there for TONS of information!!

WL FAQ

When you check-in, ask about being a Flag Family one morning. It involves getting up extra early, climbing to the top of the lodge, and raising the flags. But the view is awesome!

Ask about the Hidden Mickey Hunt throughout the Lodge and the Villas.

Take some time to sit in front of the 7-story fireplace and rock.

Visit Roaring Forks for some snacks.

Plan at least one meal for Whispering Canyon Cafe and one at Artist Point. YUM!

Check out the geyser.

Yes, they rent watercraft and bikes, too. Take a ride over to FW or just hike over there.

I love doing a wildlife search around the exterior area. There are lots of birds, lizards, squirrels, rabbits, ducks, etc. all over the place. Just be careful not to feed them -- some are a little too used to human interaction and can get feisty if you start tossing them food and try to walk away.

Take a Lodge tour.

Watch the Electric Water Pagent from the beach.

Have a terrific time!!!

Just got back 2 weeks ago. We loved it! So pretty and relaxing. They have mouseboats and platoon boats also. Kids said they were too slow and they were bored. Also have bikes and surrey bikes to rent.

Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun to eat out. Kind of pricey, I don't suggest eating there everyday. Roaring Forks is like a food court. Burgers and wraps and the like. This is where your refillable mug is purchased and refillled.

The pool is really nice. They also have the pool bar there for drinks and snacks. There were 2 jacuzzis there. The quiet pool is around the corner. A warmer pool for some reason also with a jacuzzi.

The boat to MK is fast and convienient. The bus service was also convienient.

A lot of people say the rooms are too small, but I disagree. We had 5 and I thought there was plenty of room. Besides, how much time are you in the room anyway. It was nice to have a balcony to kind of unwind on.

Good luck in your decision. I think you will love the resort.

:Pinkbounc Ya'll are driving me crazy with anticipation since we are booked for WL 20th Anniversary trip in Sept.!!! Wish it was today! Thanks for the great ideas for fun while there. Who has stayed in a Honeymoon suite?? I read there are 4 on the top floor of lobby section. Didn't book that but wondered about the view up there with the balcony that requires you to stand to see out. Is it fabulous...or not as good as the Woods view? Awaiting codes to come out for room-only Disney VISA folks like me w/o AP. Has anyone had luck faxing in a room request there or is it really not done at WL?? All help is appreciated about WL!!

<marquee>Welcome to the DIS, LATigger!</marquee>

You should head on over to the WL FAQs board like DisneyDmbNut suggested, and post your Qs about the WL there. Everyone there is SOOO helpful, patient, and sweet. Just click on her link in her post! Hope to see you around. . .I'm from NO, too!

WL does not accept faxed room requests anymore. Note any requests on your reservation and they will do their best to accommodate you.

My family and I stayed at this wonderful resort January 1-5 2003 and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else from now on. It really is beautiful, especially when they have the Xmas decorations still up. I am an early riser (unlike the rest of the family!) and I would get up and go down to Roaring Forks for a cup of coffee and then go out to the lobby and people-watch or else go out by the pool and enjoy the peace and quiet. There was a family of ducks who lived in the pool at that time -- a female with babies and a trio of guys (the bachelors I called them!). The bachelors loved to follow me around and keep me company on my morning treks. :D We ate both dinner and breakfast at Whispering Canyon and loved both. (Jailbird Jesse is a hoot!) Getting to take the boat to MK makes the visit even more special, and seeing that geyser going off as you are pulling back in to the dock is great! We really enjoyed seeing the EWP from the dock and from our balcony (Room 6024) we could see the fireworks from MK each night. I think you can tell -- I HIGHLY recommend it!! Enjoy your stay. :wave2:

Walk to FW and eat at the Trails End buffet. Its a pleasant walk, especially after a couple of days of the noise at the parks. And the buffet is good and a great value. If you like animals stop and see the horses and goats etc. at FW
