WL standard view ?

Do you all have any suggestions for what i should request for our room? If you do the request, does that seem to cut down the possibility of an upgrade. I want to ask about an upgrade when we get there with me paying for it, but wanted to know what you all thought.

As you are checking in simply ask, "do you have any courtesy upgrades today?" if no luck, try, "are there any standard rooms not over the loading dock or parking lot?"

A lot of your luck is going to be based on the crowd as well as the knowledge of the CM. I have been to WL numerous times, some with standard reservations, and have only had one standard room!! All others, free upgrades! Then again, we always go in September!

Actually, it's my understanding that some of the standard rooms have great castle views. You may want to do a search for specific areas. I'm pretty sure they'd be rooms on the North Side. Here's a map if it helps in your search, http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm, but I think it's the range of rooms from X042 - X066 with the higher floors most likely offering the best view.

That would be wonderful to pay standard view price and get a MK view!

TammiMcMan is right. Our standard view room at the WL (I think it was 4042 or maybe 4052?) had a view of the MK through the trees. At night we could see the fireworks very well.

Yes, the loading dock was there below us as well, but that didn't bother me too much. But everyone is different, so know that that is part of the view, too. It is the north side of the lodge.
