We are staying at WL for the first time-
Can anyone help with where to request-We prefer-a balcony overlooking the woods or view of the lagoon(if we can see the electric parade from our room that would be great, we do not want noise from WCC or lobby, we do not want an interior lobby view,
Also I read you can no longer request bunk beds, does anyone know which section has them??

What level of room did you book. If it was a woods view I'd request MK side, high floor, overlooking the otter pond. You may get a view of the MK like we did.

This is what I did and I loved our view. We could see portions of Wishes from our balcony. I had a woods view room booked and my request was "upper floor, overlooking the otter pond." We were given room 4008. It was not quite over the otter pond, a little further down, but the view was great.

At Wilderness Lodge, there are three room view types--standard, woods view, and courtyard view. You pay different prices depending on the view, so do you know which view you actually booked?

If you have booked a woods view room, I agree with the OPs that the upper floor, Magic Kingdom side is a great request (rooms ending in even numbers--004-034). If you've booked courtyard view, request a room on a high floor (5 or 6) toward the lake (e.g. rooms ending in odd numbers 135-165). You'll have noise from the pool, but will be far away from WCC!

You can see sections of the resort with room numbers marked here: http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm

Also, bunk beds cost extra, too, so if you didn't pay for 'em, you won't get them!

we booked a woods view but they told me you could not book bunk beds anymore??

Here's a question. I booked WL for late august, woods view. Yes, I knew about the bunk beds being more expensive but I booked the room just on woods view alone. I have twin girls that keep asking me if the hotel has bunk beds. I don't want to disapoint them.
Given the late august check in - 8/21 - I'm hoping the hotel won't be quite full. Would asking sweetly for bunk beds, regardless of view, grant me my wish?

You can no longer request Bunk beds..you have to pay for them. If having them is a must than i would go ahead and pay for them. Don't count on a free upgrade. WL will be packed during free dining.

We prefer-a balcony overlooking the woods or view of the lagoon.
. . . there is no lagoon at Wilderness Lodge
. . . there are Standard, Woods and Courtyard views

if we can see the electric parade from our room that would be great
. . . rooms at the end of the halls can usually see the lake
. . . ask for a room far away from lobby

we do not want noise from WCC or lobby
. . . ask for a room fr away from lobby

Also I read you can no longer request bunk beds
. . . there are a limited amount of bunk bed room
. . . you can pay for bunk bed rooms at ressie time
. . . if you do not pay extra, you do not get them

NOTE: Do not try to fax requests to the resort. I can personally assure you that faxed requests end up in File-13. In some cases, you get a worse room because you faxed. Reading faxes takes a lot of time from Room Assigner duties.

It sounds to me that there a significant amount of woods view rooms that you would not like. If you want a gaurunteed view of the parade you may want to consider a courtyard view on the upper floors. Any of these rooms would be good for watching the parade.

so how do I pay for the bunk beds at this point? My full payment is due July 7 because I purchased as a package and you can't make any changes this point. Am I stuck? I would gladly pay for the upgrade at check in but that means waiting till aug 21. How do I make an upgrade change at this point?

Call and ask if there is availability. The rule, unless I'm mistaken, is after the 45 day mark you can't make changes that decrease the cost of your package without paying a change fee. But Disney will gladly accept changes that result in more money for them, if the availability exists. The bunk bed rooms cost more than a room without bunk beds.

read a post somewhere that the bunk beds make the room a little smaller with less luggage space, anyone else found this to be true, I called and they are available during our stay but I have not switched yet...
and yes you can upgrade anything without the $50 charge even after 45 days :)

I have stayed in bunk bed rooms twice at WL and find it to be the opposite. We had more room for our empty suitcases, as they fit between the bunks and the wall perfectly. We are staying in a courtyard view, bunk bed room next month for 5 nights and can't wait! :goodvibes

Not true. A bunkbed takes up less floor space than the other queen bed in the rooms with two queen beds - therefore, the bunkbeds do not make the room smaller (plus, the rooms are the same size ;)).

FYI I called last evening around 8pm to secure bunk beds. They were still avail. So be on the safe side, I reserved woods view with bunk beds. Knowing my girls, they are going to love the bunk beds. And according to all I've been reading, I did not want to take a chance of making that request at check in. So, I'm paying about $140 more than I planned for our 5 night stay, but in the end, this is a Disney vacation right? Its not a cheap vacation so why not. It will add to the magical experience.
