Sorry if this has been asked recently, I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.

We have a stay booked at VWL Nov 14-17th, and of course with the main feature pool being closed, they've offered pools at FW and CR as an alternative. Nice, except as DVC members, that's always is nearly always an option .

But others that are staying in the hotel, are getting a discounts on their rooms, and what I've read, (not saying this is true - you can say anything on the internet - doesn't make it true), free water park tickets to BB. I've even read one person, renting points from a friend during the same period, and that friend received points back along with BB tickets.

I've sent an email to member services, and all they have said is please use the feature pools at FW and CR.
Am I being unreasonable in looking for some sort of compensation? Maybe not free water park tickets, but a few points back maybe?

Of course we booked at 7 months out, bought plane tickets, and there is nothing available for our dates so switching is not an option.

Give it to me straight, I can take it. Should back down and leave it alone? I am still going to Disney after all. Or would you push harder?

From what I understand everyone will have the same pool options whether Cash or points and that includes BB. I believe that was a change from the original where it was only going to be the CR/FW pools but then they decided to also offer 1 day pass to BB in addition to that.

As far as pushing for more? Personally I think the options are reasonable although I understand it's disappointing to not have all the amenities available right at the resort. The Villas pool will be open too.

OP - swing away! I haven't contacted MS, yet. Did u see any threads here as to CRO guests receiving info that they would be given WP passes?

jmho we were thrilled to be staying at one of our homes:goodvibesbut disappointed in that the villa poolscape is so small, will be a tight fit if many don't pool hop.

Guests @ the Poly are dealing with construction and closure of Volcano pool. Wondered once WDW started to offer free WP tix to Poly guests, it might be setting a precedent (I hope).

thus far haven't seen anything on website other than this:

Note: From early September through late November 2014, the Silver Creek Springs pool at Disney's Wilderness Lodge will be closed for enhancement. However, you can still dip your toes in the Hidden Springs leisure pool, which will remain open throughout the duration of the refurbishment.

Did receive notice of the pool closing early, but aven't received any info that WP passes to BB would be forthcoming for our stay beginning of Oct.:confused3

sure would be nice since we planned a pool day pre MNSSHP.popcorn:: Hopefully, those who visit in September will share their experience

OP found the 'mess' thread, it's rubbing me wrong to see that they are offering BB tix to CRO guests. The $50 a day discount on the rate, they are certainly entitled to for construction issues.

Ridiculous that they are drawing a division between the lodge and the DVC rooms being inconvenienced imo, we enjoy spending time in the lobby area and feature pool.

I'm going to call tomorrow and likely be disappointed.

however, if enough unhappy campers call perhaps they will re-consider and offer us BB tix.

My friend and I check in on Sept 1.....we are staying on her points, and we are staying at BWV the previous night, on my points. When she called Disney, she was told to contact MS..which she did. She was told no credits were being given to DVC guests, but they would return 5 pts to account. She was also offered BB tickets for the two of us.
But, we probably won't have the time to head to BB..it's a fairly short stay (leaving on the 5th) and have plans for everyday.....which included a quick swim in the pool! Now, it would seem that the pool will be over crowded most of the time.
It's just so frustrating....I guess Disney knows we're going to continue going to WDW, so they don't need to do anything to compensate us, while those staying at the Lodge are paying cold hard cash and could possible take their vacation dollars elsewhere down the road. So, they get nightly monetary credit.:headache:

You were offered 5 points back and BB tickets and the option to use other pools. What more did you want?

Just a quick update... I was called today and spoke to MS, who was very nice and understanding. I told her about how I've read others who have had a $50 credit for those staying in the lodge. She told me that everyone in the villas would be offered the BB tickets, but if I would rather the $50 credit to my room account, I could do that instead.

I was caught off guard, and didn't think to ask if it was $50/night, or $50 total. But she said she would call back tomorrow to see what we had decided to do.

JIC anyone else is in the same situation, I wanted to share my update.
