Hi,

I just made reservations a few days ago, for july 2006 (446 days to go).

We have never stayed onsite before and has a few questions, that someone might be able to answer.

#1: Does all the rooms at WL have balconies? We have booked a standard room, but I would consider to go for the wood wiev if it would enhance the chances of a balcony.

#2: I could imagine that a glass of wine or beer on the balcony, after the kid is tugged in, would be nice. Is that kind of stuff available in the store at WL, and at what prices?

#3: I have read both good and bad about the transportation to and from WL. Is it as bad as some claims?

#4: Our son is having he's 7th. birthday will we are staying at WL. Any and all ideas of great ways to give him a day that he will never forget are more then welcome.

Thanks in advanse....

You can stop at guest services and get a button saying today is my birthday. We got one at Animal Kingdom and MGM on my son's birthday. When you make PS you can tell them it is your son's birthday and they staff will sing to your son. At Cystal Palace in Magic Kingdom they decorated the table with disney glitter! The transportation was great for us we were in Disney March 23-29, 2005. We only waited 10 to 15 minutes for a bus. :earboy2:

1.
The balconies are great and I believe every room does have one. We were in a MK facing room which was amazing. When we had an early night we would be able to watch the fireworks at MK. Beautiful! If you wanted to switch locations of your room, I would do it to one of these. You have to be on floor 4 or above to see over the trees.

2.
You can get beer/alcohol in the gift shop. We opted to make a grocery store run for these items since we had rented a car. You will have a mini (really mini) fridge in your room if you decide to bring anything with you.

3.
We had a great experience with WL transportation. The boat ride to MK was so great and relaxing. Never really waited a long time for buses either.

4.
I hear whispering canyon (in WL) is great. We didn't get to try it this trip, but if your son likes screaming and laughing and throwing napkins around, he'll probably love this place. I hear nothing but good things about it.

You will LOVE WL and your vacation! Have a great time!

I was able to indulge in an inexpensive bottle of pino from the gift shop (around $9-$10). They also opened the bottle for me. It is in the rear of the gift shop and kept chilled in the cooler.

We went Oct-Nov 2004 and never had any problems with transportation. Maybe waited 10 minutes at the most and that was rare!!

As far as celebrating a b-day - we celebrated on of my daughters at Roarking Forks and a lot of the staff came and sang and she got a cupcake and stickers. She reall enjoyed it!

One thing about balconies--some on the higher floors are enclosed. On these, you are unable to sit and look out--you have to stand to see over the wall.

As far as transportation goes--In general, no resort has perfect transportation. At times you will wait no matter where you are staying. You can choose to let it upset you, or simply go with the flow and remember where you are and how great life is. Specifically at WL, boats are great fun. But if you just miss the MK boat, the next may be a little bit of a wait. You'll wait a little for the busses. But nothing is outrageous. Simply choose to enjoy your stay and you'll be a lot better off.

we were at WL when my daughter turned eight. At the check in when the asked 2 adults and one child, she asked how old is the child. I said she is 7 but on the 8th she will be 8. Nothing else was said, the night of the 8th when we came back to the room there was a small chocolate cake that said Happy Birthday and 3 plates. She was soooo surprised as were we. So you may try that. :earsboy:
