I just changed my ressies from POR to WL for the week of Feb 9 to Feb 16. This will be our first time staying on disney property and first time with the girls. I requested a standard room with bunk beds. We have three girls (almost 2, 6 and 10). What floor should I request? I would rather not have a room that I can hear the trucks early in the morning or late at night. Are there hairdryers and/or coffee makers in the rooms? Also, being that President's day is the next week, should I change my day of arrival to a day or two earlier? We are not going into any of the parks on Saturday, we will be driving home that day. Any help would be very helpful.

Only 62 days left until we arrive at the World!!

Although I can't help you with your specific questions, I just wanted to assure you what a great decision you made going to WL. It is beautiful and one of the top 5 resorts on site (IMHO).
Enjoy:Pinkbounc

Yes on the hairdryers, but I have never had a coffee maker there. Just pick either the 4th or 5th floor! You really shouldn't hear much noise there! Also at check in ask if there are any upgrades avail. they may put you in a coutyard view! Your arrival date is just fine! Make sure you take a little time to explore and appreciate the resort! It is wonderful!

You can request a coffeemaker from "lodgekeeping." They will also bring enough coffee for your length of stay. All free.

I can request an upgrade to a better room? How often does that happen? I am going on the last week of value season does that make a difference? Do I request one when we arrive or by fax or phone prior to arrival? Also, about staying on level 4 or 5, do I request that prior to arrival also? Thanks for replying. I would be totally lost without your help.

I would fax the level request in...but ask at check in about upgrades! I have been upgraded about 60% of the time! Even once to conceirge! The earlier you get there the better your upgrade chance it seems! Have a wonderful trip!

When asking for an upgrade, how do you phrase it? And are these upgrades free?

Meaning, we could just ask for a room upgrade and they might send us to woods view instead of standard for free????

WL is the best WDW hotel I've stayed at by far...
We had 5120, queen with bunks, quiet view was of plants and villas, nice enough close to the elevator.
We loved it-you do need to get there early to get what you want, I requested non smoking two queens and got neither. We didn't check in till 9pm. The room was fine smoking wise that is, no stink. It's the only WDW hotel that I'd make a point of staying in again.

It certainly can't hurt to ask for an upgrade....we were there for two nites...December 13 and 14...didn't check in until about 7pm...and the hotel was full....we had a standard room reservation and was upgraded to a woods view without our knowledge...however...I had also requested a smoking room and this was not the case....I asked the front desk for a change...and UNBELIEVABLY...they upgraded me to a 5th floor courtyard view...talk about Disney Magic!!
Enjoy your vacation:bounce: :bounce:

Yikes, we won't be arriving until about 7PM also...hope they save a nice view for me!

We are also booked for a standard view, with bunkbeds, non-smoking. I hope they don't give out all the good rooms before we get there!

Hopefully, going in the off season will help!

The WL is great. We stayed there over the summer. We had booked a standard view room. After studying the WL thread I decided to request the 4th floor standard room. They are above the check in desk and not near the service area. I had asked if this wasn't possible to please give us a quiet room. When we arrived we were given a two level upgrade. It was awesome. The whole resort is great. Study the WL thread for room requests. 999 ghosts works at the WL and has put in her opinion the best rooms for each type, ie standard, woods view ect. Also, we had bunk beds which were nice so that the kids did not always have to sleep together. They enjoyed them and they wanted to sleep in them. Enjoy!

woody5, what is 999 ghosts exact user name? I tried to search for posts from them but nothing came up.

I just tried doing a search on 999ghosts, and I took a peek at the WL thread and can't find anything either...it's like that poster has deleted all her posts, and/or that person has changed their DIS screen name.

Such a shame, because it looks as if that person was a real asset! :(

I hope she hasn't gotten in any trouble for sharing info with us!

999 ghosts has deleted all posts. Askmickey is also a CM at the WL and has posted some very helpful information. Try that on the post about the WL and you will find some very helpful information.

WL is beautiful but the only downside for us was the restaurants...buy plenty of snacks...the restaurant was slow for us and Roaring Forks was a hike for us...our kids were 2 and 6

Have fun....
great access to Chef Mickey's...:D

Hubby and I were invited to the grand opening of WL several years ago. We've stayed in the elaborate suites, regular rooms (all types of views) and rooms with bunk beds.

My daughter enjoyed the bunk bed room the best! It really was fun :)

When asking for an upgrade, how do you phrase it? And are these upgrades free?

I always ask, "Do you have any free upgrades available?". I use the word "free" so the hotel clerk doesn't assume that I'm wanting to pay for an upgrade.

There are many different arrival and departure dates for all the guests at a hotel. Your scheduled stay may fit into a time frame when an upgraded room is open, while someone checking in earlier than you may have a stay which doens't fit; it never hurts to ask.

Their new screen name is humphreythebear. You should be able to find their posts on the WL FAQ thread. Enjoy the WL, it is the best resort down there in my opinion.

We were just there this past Labor Day Weekend. My family loved it. I requested a room with bunkbeds overlooking otter pond. We also had a view of the catsle at night. You had to peek through the trees. It was great. I dont remember the room number but we were on the 3rd floor. It was close to the pool and snack bar. The pool was great

We were at WL Dec 18-24 for the first time and loved it! We had booked a standard view room and requested nonsmoking with bunkbeds when we made the reservation. I didn't fax a request ahead of time because I couldn't decide what to ask for! When we checked in (around 5pm) we were told we had been given a complimentary upgrade to woodsview. Our room was 6012 with a wonderful view of MK, the otter pond and the lake. We had bunkbeds and my guys loved them. Our room was very quiet and convenient to the elevator by Roaring Forks, which we loved and used a lot! We had a wonderful stay at WL and can't wait to go back!
