What types of animals does WL feature? Do the Woods View rooms feature more? We really loved AKL because of the animals, but I was just watching a nature program and was wondering if WL featured animals of a different kind. Do people stay at WL for animals? How difficult is it to see these animals?

Do all WL woods view rooms have balconies? Could I bring my electric wheelchair on them? Did this at AKL with absolutely no problem. We asked if we could move the chairs for the extent of our stay and they said we certainly could.

I've read on these boards about castle view rooms at WL. I've read to request a room in the north wing, as high as possible, overlooking the otter pond, woods view. Does anyone know if there are very few number of these rooms or would I have a pretty good shot at my request?

Thank you for your help!
Amy

In all of the times that we've stayed at the WL the only animals that we've seen from any of the balconies have been ducks, rabbits, frogs and lizards. We have seen deer near the road but never from the room.

I do believe all woods view rooms have balconies and I believe that the ones on the upper levels have solid banisters that you can only above and not through. Not sure about getting a elec. wheelchair on them, they are (I'm guessing) 3'x5' and accessible through a sliding glass door.

The castle view rooms are on the north side of WL. Some of them have a view of the dumpster and service entrance but that isn't that bad when you think about being able to watch the fireworks nightly while sipping from your refillable mug. :) We actually have requested the dumpster view before.

sorry about the answer but no animals unless you count squirrels, rabbits, and ducks....its just wilderness theme not a zoo like AKL.

Probably shouldn't tell you this, but I will! One night when I went out to swim in the WL pool, I saw something in the pool - a brown banded water snake, to be exact!! :faint: It was just floating around, minding his own business. Of course, everyone fled the pool as fast at they could!

Some animal control guys came and caught the snake and placed him in a sack, and took him away (I think to be let go in a different area). I thought it was cool to see a snake so close. :)

The other animals I seen were otters (I think that's what they were) in the pond on the (I think) north side of the building. It's the side where the loading dock is, and where the upper floors have the Magic Kingdom view. It was fun to watch them dive and swim around, when they were close enough to see from my patio. :)

Saw some rabbits and ducks from my room overlooking the cooking smoker in the parking lot. If I strained my neck and looked way up I was able to see the high fireworks. That being said I absolutely LOVE this resort. My #1 favorite, and have stayed here twice.

We had a woods view with a patio, there is no "Castle" view at WL because the trees have grown. You can peak through trees and see fireworks :)
