Can any of you experts out there tell me if I am going to regret staying at the WL? I have been reading that the pool gets extremely crowdeed. We will be there for 4 days in July (12-16) and I am now thinking that I might be better off paying the extra money to stay at the Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club.
OPINIONS PLEASE!! :confused3

We always stay at WL the end of June beginning of July. I have never thought the pool was overly crowded. I have always been able to get a lounge chair there. Sometimes had to wait maybe five minutes or so. We really like the pool there. The kids really enjoy the slide. I think you will have a great time there. The Lodge is great.

We stayed at the WL last May. I don't think the pool was any more crowded than any other resorts pool. Like the previous poster said, you could get a chair, might have to wait. That is my pet peeve - people who take up chairs with towels and never use the chair! A family of 5 uses 5 chairs and kids never use the chairs, they are always in the pool!!!
WL is a great resort, I think you will love it there.

rileyroosmom,
I can't agree with you more about taking up so many lounge chairs when you don't even use them. We are a family of four and we alway just use one, sometimes two if we're just going to be sitting and relaxing.

Even if the main pool seems crowded, there is the pool by the villas you can use too. That pool was never crowded when we were there last July :flower:

And there is some space on the grass. Not to mention, there are lounge chairs down by the beach.

It is my favorite place to hang out on a hot summers day. The crowds never bothered me.

I will tell you that the lifeguards will not let you have drinks in or near the pool. I think there is like a 10 foot rule (plastic cups - come on!).

My advice? Bring about 15 straws for every person in your group.

We're planning on staying at WL in May but are thinking of switching to CSR. We've stayed at WL the past 2 years and love it, but we're going to try some place different. But it depends on whether the pool would measure up to the WL. We usually spend the afternoons by the pool and our sons, 8 and 7, love the WL pool.

Any comments about how the pools measure up to each other?

I haven't actually seen the pool at CSR but I have seen it described as second only to SAB. It looks really nice! Cool slide!

I've stayed at the CSR 2X and WL 1X. CSR pool is really great. It is bigger than WL and so is the "pool area", more seats and a bigger bar/snack area. The CSR has a really cool slide according to my kids, I don't do slides!! I believe there are 2 hot tubs as well, but don't quote me as I don't do hot tubs either!!! :rotfl: I think I would say the CSR pool is nicer but the resorts are very different. Remember, WL is a deluxe and the layout is much more compact than CSR. Be prepared to do a lot of walking at CSR which is a moderate. Both are nice and you should try some place different, I think CSR would be a good choice.

what is the slide like at the WL is it to large for a two year old to go down. We are looking at WL and Poly, but the Poly slide looks to big for a 2 year old. Any advice on this?

My 2 year old went down the WL slide last trip - it is pretty small -
but my dd who was 8 loved it too so It wasn't TOO small!

I think it depends what time you hit the pool too -
we were there late morning and early afternoon - not crowded at all -
but at our bedtime - lol :rolleyes2 8pm there were crowds there!

My 3 year old, who is not brave, did not go down the slide and they won't allow an adult to go with the child. You also are not suppose to wait at the bottom to help catch the child. My 7 and 10 year olds had no complaints about the slide at all. Overall, I don't think this slide is very "kid friendly"

The slide at the CSR allowed a adult to hold a child on the slide and wait at the bottom. A lot less rules at this resort.

Can't comment about the Poly's slide, our trip isn't until May. However, from what I have read about it, it is enclosed and there are red lights (to imitate lava). So it doesn't sound like a kid friendly slide for a 2 year old, IMO.

The pool at CSR is great and has a nice kiddie pool (sperate like WL). Both slides are very fast and unless your 2 year old is a good swimmer I wouldn't recommend it.

I think the Wilderness Lodge is a great place to stay. I stayed there in 2003 and I found it to be a very nice hotel which had a great, polite staff. The pool was fairly crowded when we were there.
