Do kids like the pool at WL? The resort looks beautiful, but the pool looks pretty yet boring.

Boring?!?!? There is a big rock slide that the kids climb up through. The stream coming down from the hotel actually lets out into the pool and all the kids like to gather around the outlet and play in the current. Depends on what you';re used to I guess. I've never seen a kid moping around and not having a great time because they thought it looked boring.

Kids love pools no matter what they look like.

Have fun!!

Gee I wish I could answer that for you. We stayed at WL in 1994 when it first opened for our 10 year anniversary. Unfortunately a hurrican joined us also so we never used the pool. Well the 20 year anniverary is coming up and I just might try WL again. :p

Thanks DisFam95 for the info!! Now I am even more excited about our trip. You make the pool sound great!! Especially the part about the current-the kids will love that. I guess I have only seen an aerial picture from the back of the resort. It must not have done it justice!!

Nolcrest-better luck on your 20th anniversay!!:wave2:

Are parents allowed to wait at the outlet to the slide for their child to slide down? DD can't swim yet, but would love the slide.

I recall reading that you cannot wait for your child for the slide at Stormalong Bay. Just wonder if this is the same set-up.

Taz-My DH always waited at the bottom of the slide for DD to come down, so I do not think that is an issue! Have fun!

Tippytoe-Funny you should mention that. I think the pool at WL is awesome, but I was recently reading a Better Homes and Gardens magazine (or was it Good Housekeeping? I am not sure) and of all the Disney resorts they rated the WL pool the worst. I went home and told DH and we both scratched our heads and wondered what the heck kind of pools are at the other resorts! Cuz we have always been THRILLED with the WL pool! But apparently there are people out there that think the WL pool is not so hot!

Well you didn't say how old your DD is but WL provides a swim lifevest for the children that don't swim or are not strong swimmers at no charge at the Teton Boat & Bike Rental. You will have to show your room key and you may keep them for the lenght of your stay. My neices and nephews (when they were younger) always loved having the independence of being able to go anywhere in the pool.

You will be able to stand to one side of the slide to assist your child but with the vest they really don't need assitance as the current will push them right to the ladder and a lifeguard is stationed very near the slide.

Boring??? Why would you think that a slide could ever be boring to any child? True it isn't the biggest or fastest slide on property but the design is great for smaller children as they walk up a incline and the lifegaurd can see them every minute...(no stairs or real high platforms that can be too intense for some childern)

Hope this helps.

MAGICinMYHEART- I am sure my kids will enjoy the pool very much!! However, our neighborhood pool has a 20 ft slide so the slide at WL will probably not be a major attraction for them. Also, my daughter is a competitive year-round swimmer so she literally swims at least 6 days a week. In the pictures I had seen, the pool did not look very "themed" I am so happy to be wrong about this and we are very excited to stay at WL. :hyper:

There is a second smaller pool and hot tub that is on the same side of resort as the bus area. This area is very private and is hardly ever busy.

If you daughter needs to swim laps this pool is great for that.

Sounds like a ride down Summit Plummet would be the thing then...They would love all the slides there at Blizard Beach

Look out below! Dare to take the vertical plunge from the top of the world's tallest and fastest free-fall body slide. At an exhilarating height of 120 feet, this sky-scraping ski jump of a thrill ride drops you down the slopes of Mount Gushmore at a speed-limit-breaking 55 miles per hour for a 360-foot long trip back to the lower atmosphere. The mountain beckons —

I would never have the courage to do any of the larger slides at either of the Water Parks. But have watched my neices and nephews beg to go down the slide one more time when it's time to return to the room. (even if they have gone down a hundred times)

I don't think there's a pool that my kids didn't like!

The pool at the WL fits in perfectly with the theming, IMHO.

My boys (6 and 9) loved the pool at WL - so did dh and I! As mentioned above the slide and the "current" at the end where the stream enters the pool are both unique. Also, the smaller quiet pool sort of bubbles like a babbling brook would - a different touch for a hotel pool. Last but not least, the view of the towering lodge and the trees from the pool area is beautiful - I wish I were there right now!!!

My young kids also really enjoyed the "kiddie pool" area. You are really close to the geyser there too, and the kids thought it was great when the geyser noise would start and you'd get the spray from the geyser.

My favorite, though, is the way that the current in the big pool down by the slide area can pull you through the water.

Have SO MUCH FUN!!!
